To: The Council of Higher Education (YÖK-) Yükseköğretim Kurulu Başkanlığı We are the représentatives of David Tvildiani Medic Universitv (former Aieti Highest Medical School) of Tbilisi, Georgia. Our University has more than 25 year history- of successfully training medical professionals of highest qualification. Among numerous factors contributing to the medical progress, an importait role is assigned to perfection of the system of continued medical education and training of personnel for high qualification. Sine«Georgian medical education system in that period was still based on soviet standards, teaching methods and programs were very much outdated. This caused an urgent need to establish a new higher medical education facility with a radically new approach and ideology. Thus in 1989 AIETI Highest Médical School was founded with the aim to provide aspiring Georgian doctors with the education and career opportunities unseen before in the countries of former Soviet Union. It was one of the first non-governmental higher medical education institutions in Georgia. Since 2011 AIETi Medical School was renamed after its first rector academician David Tvildiani, to David Tvildiani Medical University (DTMU). Our university and medical school are very prestigious in Georgia. Our Staff is highly skilled in medical stuic^i^: ptiq^r«ia ; g : eompwd In fui! accorda« with thé. 3 Organization for PhD Education in Biomedicine and Health Sciences in European System (ORPHEUS) Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS) Research Continuum for PhD and Scientific Program in Georgia A big part of our students are from foreign countries. Large volume of work has been carried oui in order to simplify the admission process for foreign citizens. The university also provides all the necessary legal and documental support for students for obtaining a visa as well as during bureaucratic procedures in the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia Relationship between Georgia and Turkey progresses year by year. We are looking forward to maintain good relationships between Georgian and Turkish universities and medical schools. We are aware that Turkey has had grest progress in medical field; it is a leading country in medical education in our region and has a good network of University Hospitals. We are ready to undergo all the necessary procedures that might be required and are looking for getting recognition support in this case. As there is a shortage of high quality university hospitals in Georgia, we are looking forward to collaborate with Turkish side from this viewpoint. But on the other hand we are strong in basic sciences and are more than willing to exchange medical, teaching staff, professors and students. This subject is of our future negotiation. Primarily we imagine exchanging students of different courses and also having training at summer period. If you accept our proposal we will have direct contact with your representatives in Tbilisi. With respect. Prof. Lev««Tviidiani, MD, PhD Hector
