GENERAL INFORMATION 1.1 More details about international student applications can be found at The application period for International Students to Adnan Menderes University for the Academic year is between 01 August 16 August Applications are taken online at Applications made by post or in person will not be accepted. 1.4 All candidates wishing to gain a place at Adnan Menderes University MUST take the online ADÜYÖS examination on 19 August 2017 at 10:00 (GMT +2 Istanbul) 1.5 On completing the Adnan Menderes University International Student application process, the applicant accepts all the conditions detailed in this guide and the relevant website. 1.6 Online ADÜYÖS examination results are valid for applications to Undergraduate and/or Associate Degree programmes. They are not accepted for use in transfer applications or graduate degree programmes. Examination results are valid only for their current application period. 1.7 For applicants applying to the online ADÜYÖS examination, all statements made by candidates in their applications will be assumed to be correct. Any candidate who supplies incomplete or false information will have his or her examination results invalidated. 1.8 Application fees cannot be transferred to a later online ADÜYÖS examination. The application fee will not be repaid in the following cases; where candidates do not attend the examination even if the application fee has been paid, where the candidate s application is invalid or the examination requirements have not been fulfilled, for candidates who are disallowed from taking the examination, for candidates who fail the examination or candidates whose examination result is declared invalid. Applications will be rejected if the application fee has not been paid. PLEASE NOTE!!! Students who took the online ADÜYÖS examination on 13 May 2017 can use the mark they obtained on this examination to re-apply. Students who wish to use this mark need to complete the application system BUT do not need to repay the examination fee or take the examination on 19 August However, students who are applying to this application who have not taken the online ADÜYÖS examination on 13 May 2017 or who wish to increase their mark from this examination must complete the application system, pay the relevant examination fee into the bank account (Please see further informatıon on payments below on the article 3.7 Payment of the examination fee) 3

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS 2.1 Applications shall be accepted on condition that the applicant has either completed or is in the final year of their secondary education, and fulfils one of the conditions listed below: 1) those who are foreign nationals, 2) those who are Turkish citizens by birth, but acquired permission to leave Turkish citizenship from the Ministry of the Interior and those who certify that they have a certificate of use of recognition of rights given to the minors registered on the declaration of alienage entitled by Turkish Citizenship Law, (Due to the provision in Article 7 of 5901 numbered Turkish Citizenship Law (1) A child born within marriage to a mother or father with Turkish citizenship either within or outside Turkey is a Turkish citizen., applicants for foreign student admissions should examine the Turkish Citizenship laws), 3) those who are foreign nationals by birth and acquired Turkish nationality / applicants who have dual citizenship in this way, 4) a) those who are Turkish citizens who were continuing with their secondary education before 01/02/2013 and complete the final three years of their secondary education (high school) in a country other than Turkey and TRNC (including those who complete their education at a Turkish School opened with accreditation from The Turkish Ministry of National Education in a country other than Turkey or TRNC), b) those who are continuing with their secondary education after 01/02/2013 and complete all of their secondary education (high school) in a country other than Turkey and TRNC (including those who complete their education at a Turkish School opened with accreditation from The Turkish Ministry of National Education in a country other than Turkey or TRNC), 5) those holding TRNC citizenship who reside in the TRNC, have completed their secondary (high school) education in the TRNC and hold GCE-AL exam results and also those registered and educated at colleges and high schools in a different country between and possess or will possess GCE-AL exam results, 2.2 Applications will not be accepted if the candidate is subject to one of the conditions listed below; a) Is a Turkish citizen who has totally completed his or her secondary education in Turkey or the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), b) Is a TRNC citizen, unless the applicant has completed his or her secondary education in the TRNC, and has successfully completed the GCE AL Examination and who has or will have a GCE AL qualification after having registered for, and completed a course of education in a college or high school in another country between 2005 and 2010, 5

6 c) Dual citizens whose first citizenship is Turkish from birth, as defined in section 1/b of this article (except those who fulfil the requirements set out in 1/d), d) Dual citizens who have TRNC citizenship, unless they have completed their secondary education at a high school in the TRNC, have obtained a GCE AL Examination and who have or will have a GCE AL qualification after having registered for, and completed a course of education in a college or high school in another countries between 2005 and 2010, e) Turkish citizens or dual citizens whose first citizenship is Turkish as defined in section 1/b of this article, and who have studied or are currently studying at a foreign embassy school or a foreign high school in Turkey. 3. APPLICATION PROCEDURE 3.1 International student applications to Adnan Menderes University will only be accepted between 01 August August 2017 at After this period the application system will automatically close. Any application made outside this period, in person or by post will not be accepted. 3.2 Applicants who applied to the Adnan Menderes University International student applicant system during the previous admission period in May 2017 can use the same and password to enter the application system. The system will automatically bring the personal information and documents to the screen. Any necessary changes can be made to these. 3.3 Applications can be made either in Turkish or English. Exam questions will appear in the language you preferred for application. 3.4 For more details about the online ADÜYÖS examination, please see the application guide at Applicants must create a new user account which is used to enter the system. The applicant must complete their personal details, other examination details, contact information, high school education details and upload all necessary documents. 3.6 Course preference is required at the time of application. Candidates can make up to 5 course preferences and it is obligatory to make at least 3 course preferences. Please see Appendix 1 below or for quotas. 3.7 Payment of the examination fee The online ADÜYÖS examination fee of 180 Turkish lira (TL), 50 US dollars (USD) OR 45 Euros (EUR) must be deposited into the relevant bank account stated below: 6

Bank receipts without this information cannot be evaluated and the applicants will not be allowed to enter the online ADÜYÖS examination. Responsibility lies with the applicant. 3.8 Uploading of documents on to the application system Documents must be uploaded on to online ADÜYÖS application system Documents must be JPEG(.jpeg/.jpg), GIF(.gif) or PNG(.png) files. Documents to be uploaded: 1) Diploma or temporary graduation document or a student certificate for those in the final year of high school, 2) Transcript of records, 3) Passport page showing personal information, 4) Bank receipt showing applicant s name and surname (of 180 Turkish Liras, 50 US Dollars or 45 Euro). Students who took the online ADÜYÖS examination on 13 May 2017 can use the mark they obtained on this examination to apply. Students who wish to use this mark need to complete the application system BUT do not need to repay the examination fee or take the examination on 19 August However, students who are applying to this application who have not taken the online ADÜYÖS examination on 13 May 2016 or who wish to increase their mark from this examination must complete the application system, pay the relevant examination fee and upload the bank receipt onto the system. 7

8 5) A passport photograph taken within the last year. 6) Document showing your Turkish Identity Number (TC Number) (Turkish Identity Card, Residence Permission Card or similar) (if available), 7) Document showing examination results. Please see appendix 2 for list (if available) 3.9 It is possible to make changes to information and documents on the application system between the application dates or until SUBMIT APPLICATION is clicked on. All candidates must click on SUBMIT APPLICATION in order to complete their application. After submitting an application, it will not be possible to make any changes. Applications which are not submitted will not be evaluated Applicants with false, incorrect or incomplete applications, preferences or payment will not be evaluated. The responsibility lies with the applicant Applications will be evaluated and a list of applicants who will be able to enter the online ADÜYÖS examination will be published on 18 August 2017 on ADÜ International Students web page. 4. ONLINE ADÜYÖS EXAMINATION 4.1 The online ADUYÖS examination will occur on 19 August 2017, 10h00 (GMT +2 Istanbul). All candidates must take this examination. 4.2 Online ADÜYÖS examination is an online examination. Therefore, there are no examination centres on Adnan Menderes University campuses or in other countries. 4.3 All candidates who take the examination will need a computer, internet connection and webcam. These should be fully working during the examination period. The responsibility lies with the candidate. 4.4 For more details about the online ADÜYÖS examination, please see the examination guide at Examination Rules i- Candidates who have been determined to have received help or cheated in anyway during the examination will have their examination cancelled by the online ADÜYÖS examination invigilators. ii- Candidates who do not log onto the examination system during the examination period will have their application cancelled and will not be evaluated. iii- If, for any reason, during the examination period, internet connection is lost, the candidate can re-enter the system and continue from the same place. However, if the loss of connection 8

9 is determined by the invigilators as being in contradiction to the examination rules, the invigilators have the right to cancel the candidate s examination. iv- Online ADÜYÖS invigilators will be observing and recording candidates during the examination. These invigilators have the right to cancel an examination, either during the examination or on re-investigation of material recorded during the online examination period if it is determined that the candidate is not conforming to the prescribed examination rules. 4.6 Procedure after the examination i- Applicants who have their examination cancelled will be notified on the system and by e- mail between 21/08/2017 and 22/08/ EVALUATION OF APPLICATIONS AND PLACEMENT OF CANDIDATES 5.1 The assessment of applications and the placement of candidates who applied for Associate and Bachelor degrees shall be carried out on 23/08/2017 by the Admission Committee for International Students constituted by the Senate of Adnan Menderes University in terms of the relevant Regulation according to the candidates online ADÜYÖS score, diploma grade, field of study, the exams and their minimum scores considered for Associate and Bachelor degree applications and the country of graduation. 5.2 The University is free to admit as many students as stated in the quota or less. 5.3 Meeting the Application Requirements does not mean obtaining admission. 5.4 Applications of those who do not meet the requirements for application are not evaluated. 6. ANNOUNCEMENT OF PRINCIPAL AND SUBSTITUTE CANDIDATES 6.1 The list of successful applicants and substitute candidates will be published on 25 August 2017 on the ADÜ International students web page. 6.2 Letters necessary for visa applications (acceptance letters) will be published on the same web site on 25 August

10 7. REGISTRATION 7.1 Candidates who have gained the right to register at Adnan Menderes University must do so in person (no power of attorney for registration is NOT acceptable) with the necessary documents without payment of the relevant tuition fee at the International Office of Adnan Menderes University at the relevant dates stated below. Registration Dates for Principal 05/09/ /09/2017 Candidates: Substitute Candidates Announcement: 11/09/2017 Registration Dates for Substitute 12/09/ /09/2017 Candidates Place for Registration: International Office, Adnan Menderes University Rectorate Building, Ground Floor, Central Campus, Aydın. 7.2 Documents required for registration a) Original High School Diploma or graduation document (notarized Turkish translation of these documents) and Equivalency Document of this diploma or graduation document from a Turkish Embassy or Consulate in the student s own country or from the Turkish Ministry of Education, certifying the equivalency of the applicant s diploma to that of Turkish diplomas, b) Original transcript of records and its notarized Turkish translation, c) Photocopy of original passport and its notarised Turkish translation, d) Bank receipt showing payment of the student s tuition fee into the relevant bank account e) 6 passport-size photographs (4.5cm x 6cm) taken within the last 12 months. f) For departments with Turkish education, a Turkish Language Proficiency Level Certificate accepted by ADÜ TÖMER; for departments with English education, an English Language Proficiency Level Certificate accepted by ADÜ School of Foreign Languages; for departments with French education, a French Language Proficiency Level Certificate accepted by ADÜ School of Foreign Languages; for departments with German education, a German Language Proficiency Level Certificate accepted by ADÜ School of Foreign Languages (if available). g) Original examination results documents (if available). h) Vukuatlı Nüfus Örneği (certificate of identity register copy) for students who have double nationality- one of which is Turkish. 10

11 i) Health Report taken from a general state hospital in Turkey for students to study at the Faculty of Medicine only. 8. LANGUAGE 8.1 English, French, German Programmes i- Students who are registered on to courses of which the languages of education is English, French or German are required to pass the relevant language exemption examination carried out by the ADÜ School of Foreign Languages, submit a language certificate or an exemption certificate accepted by the ADÜ School of Foreign Languages to the ADÜ School of Foreign Languages before they are allowed to pass on to their course. These examinations will occur in September 2017 at a date to be announced later on the International Students page. This does not include English Language Teaching in the Department of Education as the language of instruction is Turkish. ii- Students who are not exempted, do not pass the relevant language exemption examination or submit an accepted certificate will be required to complete a one-year language preparatory course carried out by the ADÜ School of Foreign Languages. iii- Below is some information on obligatory language certificates needed for English Language and Literature, French Language and Literature and German Language and Literature: English Language and Literature: International students starting their education on this programme must submit a minimum B2 TÖMER certificate as there are some English- Turkish compulsory courses (for example: IDE221 Translation I course). These courses are compulsory for graduation. For courses on this programme, please see French Language and Literature: International students starting their education on this programme must submit a minimum B1 TÖMER certificate as there are some Turkish compulsory courses (for example: IDE403 English-Turkish Translation I course). Equivalency will be carried out by ADÜTÖMER. These courses are compulsory for graduation. For courses on this programme, please see German Language and Literature: International students starting their education on this programme must submit a minimum C1 ADÜTÖMER certificate as there are some Turkish compulsory courses (for example: ADE209 German-Turkish Translation I course). 12 8.2 Turkish Programmes i- Students who are registered on to courses of which the language of education is Turkish are required to pass a Turkish Language Exemption examination carried out by ADÜ TÖMER or submit a Turkish Language certificate accepted by ADÜ TÖMER to ADÜ TÖMER before they will be allowed to pass on to their course. This examination will occur on Wednesday 20 September 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Aydın Menderes Classroom Block (Central Campus, Aydın city centre) by ADÜTÖMER This includes English Language Teaching in the Department of Education as the language of instruction is Turkish. ii- Students who do not pass the Turkish Language Exemption Examination or provide a language certificate accepted by ADÜ TÖMER will be required to complete a one-year language preparatory course carried out by ADÜ TÖMER. 8.3 Information regarding ADÜTÖMER Examination and course fees: All international students who are registered on a programme of which the language of instruction in Turkish must enter the ADÜTÖMER examination on Wednesday 20 September 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Aydın Menderes Classroom Block (Central Campus, Aydın city centre) to be carried out by ADÜTÖMER. There will be an examination fee of 50,00 Turkish Lira for students to enter this examination. The examination fee will need to be deposited into a bank account later announced by ADÜTÖMER. The pass mark for the Turkish Language Examination is 80 marks out of 100. Students who gain a mark of 80 or above will be exempt from the compulsory Turkish Preparatory Class and can continue on the programme they have registered on. Students who have not entered or failed to obtain the required pass mark on this examination must register on the Turkish Preparatory Course. The Turkish Preparatory Course consists of six (6) seperate levels. For the academic year, the fees for each level has been determined as 800 Turkish Lira by ADÜTÖMER. The total cost for the six level Turkish Preparatory Course for one academic year is 4800 Turkish Lira. IMPORTANT!! These fees are related to education in ADÜTÖMER. International students must continue to also pay the academic fees related to the department they are registered on. 12

13 Exemption: For exemption from the Turkish Proficiency Examination and the Turkish Language Preparatory class, ADÜTÖMER will accept only C level documents issued by the Yunus Emre Institute (Click here for the Yunus Emre Institute). Turkish language certficates issued bu other institutions will not be evaluated by ADÜTÖMER and these students must take the Turkish language Proficiency Examination. 9. TUITION FEES 9.1 Tuition Fees for the Academic Year : Adnan Menderes University will accept the minimum tuition fees determined for the relevant academic year by the Council of Ministers. Tuition fees will be announced on the ADÜ International Students webpage immediately after the Council of Ministers have declared them. Please see for the academic fees for the academic year. 13
