There were 8 YHT runs per day on 13th March 2009 initially. The runs were increased to 9 on 6th April 2009 and to 15 on 1st September 2009 and to 20 on 1st July 2010. 17

ANKARA-ESKİŞEHİR HST OPERATION A social perception research on High Speed Operations in Turkey has been made. Some of the results of this research are as follows: High comfort %95 72% 80% It is vital for the trade of the city %78 It contributes to tourism %80 The investments in HSLs should continue no matter it costs %80 8% 60% 40% 20% 0% BEFORE YHTs AFTER YHTs Since the opening date of Ankara-Eskisehir section, 8 million 739 thousand passengers have been transported, which means about 7 thousand passengers have been carried per day. The transportation share of TCDD which was % 8 in Ankara-Eskisehir section has increased to 72 % after YHTs.

ANKARA-ESKİŞEHİR YHT OPERATIONS The transportation to the other cities are provided by HST+Conventional Train and HST+Bus connections.. In addition, connection to Kütahya ( 6 times) by DMU sets and bus connection to Bursa (14 times) are provided after HSTs. That is why, the travel times are shortened from Ankara to Kütahya and Bursa cities. Viaduct (2.300) mthe longest viaduct of Turkey

ANKARA-KONYA YHT OPERATIONS YHT has brought dynamism to economic, social and cultural life of Konya. YHT has contributed the tourism activities of the city with daily tours. YHT has offered students the opportunity to travel daily for their universities without being far away from their families. YHT has brought economic boom to the station area. BEFORE YHTs AFTER YHTs Following launching of YHT operations between Ankara-Konya, the share of TCDD in passenger transportation became 65 %.

Eskişehir Konya HSL was put into operation on 23rd March 2013. Since the opening of this line, 153 thousand passengers have been transported. The travel time between Eskişehir-Konya which was 8 hours by conventional train and 5,5 hours by bus, has been decreased to 2 hours by HSTs. 27

In other parts of Yerköy- Sivas line section, the construction process is going on. Superstructure and electromecanical works will be tendered. 28

It is currently at the tendering phase. The tender for final drawing preparation for Eşme-Salihli (70) and Salihli-Manisa (77 km) sections has been completed. The infrastructure construction tender of 9 km in Manisa-İzmir (35 km) section was made on 8th February 2013.

The total length of tracks to be renewed in 2013 is 1.098 km. 913 km of these tracks will be renewed by TCDD and 185 km by private sector. 39

It is planned to construct 18 Logistics Centers. 5 logistics centers in Samsun, Uşak, Denizli (Kaklık), Köseköy and Halkalı were put into operation. The construction works are going on in 6 logistics centers in Eskişehir, Balıkesir, Bozüyük, Mardin, Erzurum, Mersin (Yenice). The final drawings and expropriation studies are going on for 7 logistics centers. IZBAN/EGERAY IN URBAN TRANSPORT CUMAOVASI-TEPEKÖY section of 30 km will be put into commercial operation this year. The number of the carried passengers is as follows: 2010: 2,6 million 2011: 35,5 million 2012: 50,3 million 2013 January-August period: 30 million. Cumaovası-Tepeköy (30 km) section will be put into commercial operation in 2013. The project of Tepeköy-Selçuk (26 km) section is prepared and was tendered. The tender of constuction works of Aliağa-Bergama (50 km - 3 lines) section will be carried out.

ROLLING STOCK FLEET IS BEING RENEWED High Speed Train Sets DMU Sets Diesel Electrified Locomotives New Commuter Train Sets(EMU) 13 HST sets, 89 DE Mainline Loco, 12 DMU Sets, 32 Commuter Train Sets are procured. 19 diesel sets (DMU-84 vehicle) are locally manufactured. The production of 20 DE Mainline locomotive is going on. The production of 6 HST sets, 80 Electrified Mainline Loco is going on.

ROLLING STOCK FLEET IS BEING RENEWED 106 High Speed Train Sets 51 % contribution margin will exist for 86 of 106 train sets. Minimum speed for 86 sets will be 250 km/h and for 20 sets the minimum speed will be 300 km/h. Specifications are being prepared for procurement of the sets.

ROLLING STOCK FLEET IS BEING RENEWED 5 (Sets) + 5 (loco + coaches) set hiring After İstanbul-Ankara High Speed line is opened wholly for operations in 2015, there will be a need for HST sets and 5 sets together with 5 sets with loco+coaches will be hired. 5 sets will be tendered on October. Technical specifications for The other 5 loco+coach sets has been prepared and preperations for tender are going on.

TRAINS ARE LOCALLY MANUFACTURED Diesel sets Anadolu which is the first locally manufactured of Turkey, is launched to be operated on 30th May 2011 in İzmir-Tire line. The manufacture of the first locomotive of new generation for the export is completed on 28th February 2011 by the cooperation of TÜLOMSAŞ and GE.

FREIGHT AND PASSENGER WAGONS ARE BEING RENEWED 155 coaches are manufactured between 2003-2012 and put into operation. 5.865 freight wagons are manufactured between 2003-2012 and put into operation. 725 freight wagons will be manufactured in 2013.

STATIONS ARE BEING RENEWED Ankara Sivas Manisa Balıkesir 97 % of the stations and halts are renewed and they became appropriate for corporate identity.

INTERMODAL FREIGHT TRANSPORT We have met railway with seaway in intermodal transport. We have started Samsun- Kavkaz train-ferry operation between Turkey and Russia through Black Sea. We have started train-ferry operation between Derince and Tekirdağ for combined freight transport between Europe and Asia.
