Eren Doktora ve Doktora-Ötesi çalışmalarını tamamladıktan sonra 1980 yılında ODTÜ İnşaat Mühendisliği Bölümünde göreve başlamış ve 1985 yılına kadar anılan Üniversitede Y. Doç. ve Doç. olarak görev yapmıştır. Kendisi 1985 ve 1987 yıllarında Humboldt Bursiyeri olarak Stuttgart Üniversitesinde araştırmalar yürütmüştür. K. Eren 1986 yılında uzman olarak Birleşmiş Milletler de hizmete başlamış ve 1994 yılına kadar çalışmalarını yürütmüştür. K. Eren 1996 ve 1997 yıllarında, Başbakan Başmüşaviri olarak Millie Emlak ve Gecekondu Islah Projesinin (MEGİP) yürütücülüğünü yapmıştır. K. Eren yurtiçi ve yurtdışı müşavirlik hizmetleri vermek amacıyla 1997 yılında Jeo Tek Şirketler Grubunu kurmuş ve Gruptaki 6 şirket ve 200 üzerindeki personeli ile halen Türkiye, ABD, S. Arabistan ve Libya da hizmet vermektedir. Jeo Tek Grubu bu ülkelerde 30 üzerinde mühendislik, müşavirlik ve IT projesini başarıyla tamamlamıştır. Bu projelerden bazıları şunlardır: Mavi Akım mühendislik işleri; Dışişleri Bakanlığı e-devlet projesi; Saudi Telecom Company coğrafi veritabanı oluşturulması; Suudi Arabistan-İçişleri Bakanlığı 911 pilot sistemi kurulması; Jeodezik Ağının Kurulması, Libya Bingazi Bölgesinin planlanması; Libya Ulusal Harita öalıoşmaları müşavirliği. Jeo Tek ayrıca Yapı Merkezi nin Suudi Arabistan da kurduğu Şirketin de ortağı olmuştur. K. Eren aynı zamanda Istanbul Kultur Üniversitesi İnşaat Mühendisliği Bölümünde Professor olarak da hizmet vermektedir. Kendisi 2006-2009 yıllarında Ulusal CORS (Sürekli Gözlem Yapan GPS İstasyonu) Sisteminin Kurulması (Ulusal DATUM Dönüşümü) adlı 5 Milyon Dolar bütçeli TÜBİTAK proejesinin yürütücülüğünü yapmıştır. K.
