MARMARAY PROJECT 1. The Bosphorus Crossing (BC1) Immersed tube tunnel (1,4 km), Immersed tube depth is 60 m, 12 km bored tunnels & cut-cover tunnels, 4 new stations. Üsküdar 2. The Upgrading of the Commuter Rail (CR1/CR3) New high standard triple track line (~ 65 km), 37 new stations. 3. Procurement of new Rolling Stocks (CR2) 440 new train sets. Sirkeci Ayrılıkçeşm e Yenikapı Kazlıçeşme Total length : Approx. 77 km At grade, European side 19.6 km At grade, Asian side 43.4 km Bored tunnels 12.2 km Immersed tube tunnel 1.4 km Marmaray (Ayrılıkçeşme-Kazlıçeşme) was commissioned on 29th October 2013. The line and station renewal works are ongoing on Pendik-Söğütlüçeşme and Kazlıçeşme Halkalı sections.

LOGISTIC CENTERS ARE BEING ESTABLISHED Yeşilbayır/İstanbul Gelemen/Samsun Halkalı/İstanbul Köseköy/İzmit Kars Gökköy/Balıkesir Bozüyük/Bilecik Sivas Palandöken/Erzurum Uşak Hasanbey/Eskişehi r Kayacık/Konya Boğazköprü/Kayseri Kaklık/Denizli Türkoğlu/K.mara ş Mardin Habur Yenice/Mersin It is planned to construct 18 Logistics Centers. 5 logistics centers in Samsun, Uşak, Denizli (Kaklık), Köseköy and Halkalı were put into operation. The construction works are going on in 6 logistics centers in Eskişehir, Balıkesir, Bozüyük, Mardin, Erzurum, Mersin (Yenice). The final drawings and expropriation studies are going on for 7 logistics centers.
CONNECTIONS ARE BEING IMPROVED WITH TRAIN FERRY TRAFFIC Samsun Varna Poti Kavkaz Mersin Samsun(Turkey)-Kavkaz ( Russia) train ferry line through Black Sea, was officially put into service on 19th February 2013.

PROCUREMENT of NEW FERRIES To be operated between Tatvan Van; 2 Ferries with a capacity of 50 wagons along with repairing of landing piers and construction of warehouse for ferries The ferries is being manufactured. Planned to be ready for operation at the end of 2014. THE IMPORTANCE OF R&D IS INCREASING State Corporation R&D Manufacture INDUSTRY UNIVERSITY Training Railway Research and Technology Center, which aims to become bridge between local industry and universities and implement new technologies is established within TCDD.

NEW LAW on SECTOR LIBERALIZATION The Law No: 6461 on Liberalization of Rail Transport in Turkey was entered into force on 1 May 2013. Main Objectives: Restructuring of TCDD as Infrastructure Manager Establishment of New Railway Undertaking (TCDD Transport JSC) Opening up of the railway sector for competition Arrangement of Public Service Obligations Enabling the private sector to invest in rail infrastructure Further Needs: Capacity Improvement for Regulatory Bodies Elaboration of necessary secondary legislation by Regulatory Bodies
