Arfen Arfen BE Aluminium Series bridge expansion joints, consisting of a waterproof rubber and special grade of alumium frame, absorbs movements of the bridge. This system produces in factory under high quality conditions. Arfen Arfen BE Aluminium Series bridge expansion joints, guaranteed against corrosion for long-lasting solution. Rubber is strong against to surface oil, grease, oil, chemicals, resistant to UV rays, snow and salt. All expansion joints are designed to absorb movements and expansions of the structure by changing their shape. Expansion joints of different sizes are fixed to the reinforced concrete from both sides by using of

suitable corrosion-resistant galvanized anchor bolts and chemical anchors to absorb elastic reactions, mechanical vibrations and other movements of the structure. Lateral loads (as a result of the vehicles braking, seismic loads,due to thermal expansion resulting elongation and shortening) is converted by Arfen Arfen BE Aluminium Series expansion joints. MATERİALS: SIDE FRAMES The Arfen A-BE Expansion Joint system side frames are extruded from heavy duty structural grade aluminium. Their properties - Tensile- 300 Mpa - %15, Yeild- 275 Pa. ANCHORS Anchor system made by M20 Gr. 8.8. galvanised. This achoring system alows to change old expansion joints easly with new one when it needed. SEALS There are two type of seals. They can cover diffirent movement range. Seals locked with frame by male female interlocking earlobe system.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE 1- General The following installation procedure is very impotant and must be fully understood prior to beginning any works. To ensure proper installation and performance of expansion joint system the following actions must be compled by the installing contructor. Mistake to do so will afffect product warranty. The Arfen BE aluminium series is shipped in standart sections 2.00 mt lenghts. Blockout : Blockout in the deck, curbs, sidewalks shall be constructed to dimensions shown on drawings

II. Installation: Install the expansion joints in the place which is reverved according to the drawing.use some template steel beam to hung and install expansion joints in place and it must be strong enough until concreting. It should not move durring concereting. III. Steel Bars : Put the necessary steel bars according to drawings. Steel bars is very important for long life of expansion joints. To opgtain gap durring concereting you can use some EPS under the expansion joints you can use EPS. IV. Cast the concrete : when you are sure about steel bars and and fixing of the expension joints enough you can cast the concerete. You must fill all around the system for life of expabsion joints. Concete both sides at te same time to not move the expansion joints their places. V. Open trafic. Dont open trafic until expansion joints concrete is strong enough to carry trafic.
