They are made using the same manufacturing process as the PVC circuits and thus have a smooth bore, which prevents any accumulation of condensed water, and a outer armouring helix which provides flexibility and prevents any accidental flow blockage. The extremely flexible connectors are welded to the tube, to prevent any risk of disconnection. Silicone circuits can be o steam sterilized (autoclaved) at 120-134 C without deterioration. The tube is reinforced by an external helix, whilst the inner surface is smooth. This offers several advantages to the system; The tube is extremely flexible. The tube is totally crush-proof thereby eliminating any risk of ventilation being interrupted. Tube diameter is constant, whatever the curvature radius of the circuit. The smooth bore prevents condensation build-up which reduces bacterial growth. The tube is totally transparent, so the circuit can be constantly monitored. In patients where mechanical ventilation is needed, It maintains the formation of necessary humidty and temperature level therefore allowing easier aspiration of the secretions. It is lightweight, reliable and adaptable to all ventilation circuits. This function also aids in sustaining gas exchange by the keeping the airway open and consequently reduces infection risks. The system is an assembly of a Catheter Mount piece and a heat regulation piece combined with an I.V. regulator. The heat regulator forms humidification by evaporating the ventilated air with heat transfer, and regulates the formation of heat and humidity. A single product is used for both pediatric and adult patients by use of IV regulator. The targeted temperature levels are regulated by use of temperature buttons on the heater.
