Safety is Important To ensure your safety and the safety of others, please ensure you read the Safety Instructions before you operate this product. Keep this information in a safe place for future reference. Imported Safeguards When using an electric appliance, basic precautions should always be followed, including the following: To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury: The device is only authorized for private, domestic use only. Do not pull out the plug from power supply socket by pulling on the connecting lead. Do not pull the connecting lead over sharp edges or allow it to become jammed. Do not use damaged extension leads. lf required, the connecting lead has to be replaced together with the cable rewind by an autorized Fakir After-Sales-Service only. Before any maintenance operation or replacing a filter, and after use, switch off the appliance and pull out the mains plug. Keep the nozzles and ends of tubes well away from the eyes and ears. The appliance must only be used for dry vacuum cleaning. lt is not a dual-purpose (wet/dry) vacuum cleaner. Do not use the appliance to pick up hot or glowing substances. Do not use the appliance to pick up coarse slivers of glass. Do not use the appliance to pick up any solvents, explosive liquids or gases. When using the turbo suction brush resp. the electric suction brush, keep the hands clear of the rotating brush roller and take care not to run over the connecting lead. Do not store the appliance in the open air. Do not exposure the machine to weather, humidity nor excessive heat. Clean the appliance only with a dry or slightly moist cloth. Only with the utilization of all filters is your floor vacuum cleaner provided with the excellent filter effect, particularly important for allergic persons. Pollen, mites and fine-grain dusts from a size of 0,1 are extracted almost completely. The filter effect is so good that the exhaust air of the device indicates a lower dust-content value than the room air. The air is purified in this case as follows: a.air with dirt particles is sucked in via the suction hose. b.the dirt is retained in the dust bag with
extraction close-off by means of a 5-layered fibrous mat filter. c. The main micro-filter serves as preliminary filter and protection element for the following filter cartridge. d.the Vario-Kombi micro-filter serves as an active odor filter which binds the odors from dust and dirt with activated charcoal. In addition, the finest particles are separated out almost completely by a particulate matter HEPA* filter. e.the air is suctioned through the motor. Since all particulate matter has been extracted beforehand, no dust precipitation can form here. f. Only the dust-forming abrasion of the carbon brushes of the motor is extracted through the exhaust-air microfilter. g.the clean air is routed into the room via the ventilation slits. Slide the handle [A] of the suction hose with a slight turn into the telescopic suction tube [G]. Insert the telescopic suction tube [G] with a slight turn into the floor suction nozzle [J]. Lift the release button [3] for the filter enclosure cover [D] and open the cover. Assembling WARNING: Prior to assembly, make sure that the mains plug is unplugged. If the mains plug is plugged in, the appliance could accidentally be switched on, resulting in injuries. Plug the end of the suction hose into the suction nozzle [1]. The two locks to the left and right engage audibly. For the release of the suction hose, press the two release buttons [2]. It engages audibly. Lift up the dust bag holder [4]. 15
Setting adjustment of the suction tube length The required length of the telescopic suction tube is adjusted in two steps: Take off the MICRO VARIO filter cassette [5]. Remove the protective foil from the Vario-Kombi micro-filter[6]. Insert the Vario- Kombi micro-filter [6] into the MICRO VARIO filter cassette [5]. Insert the MICRO VARIO cassette together with the Vario-Kombi micro-filter into the vacuum cleaner again. Fold down the dust bag holder [4] with dust bag. Again fold down the filter enclosure cover [D] until it engages. Hold the handle [A] or the upper part of the telescopic suction tube [G] securely in one hand. First hold the lower part of the telescopic suction tube with the other hand, press down the slider [7] with the thumb (in sliding direction toward the front) and then pull out the lower suction tube [8] completely until it engages. To slide the telescopic tubes together, press up the sliders [7] and [9] in each case (in sliding direction toward rear). Your vacuum cleaner is now ready for operation. Accessories Compartment WARNING: Switch off the device before changing the nozzles. Crevice nozzle, furniture brush and upholstery nozzle are housed in the accessories compartment. 16 Press the release button [11] to open the accessories compartment. The cover [12]
opens and you can take out the required nozzle. After this press down the cover [12] again until it engages. Insert the corresponding nozzle securely with a slight turn onto the handle of the suction hose, or onto the telescopic suction tube. Utilization Crevice nozzle [13]: With the crevice nozzle, you can vacuum dirt out of deep cracks in upholstered furniture, corners, skirting, etc. Floor suction nozzle [J]: You can adjust the floor suction nozzle with a working width of approx. 28 cm by using the change-over switch [17] for the vacuuming of carpets (bristle collar retracted), or hard floors (bristle collar extended). Radiator brush [14] (Optional accessory): You can insert the radiator brush onto the crevice nozzle in order to vacuum off radiator ribs. Furniture brush [15]: With the furniture brush, you can vacuum off dust from furniture, pictures, window sills, books etc. Upholstery nozzle [16]: With the upholstery nozzle, you can vacuum off curtains, upholstered furniture etc. It is provided with a thread comb, which removes fluff and threads from textiles. Hard-floor nozzle [K]: Used especially for hard-floors such as tiles, parquet or laminate. Soft brush hairs allow the nozzle to glide easily over the floor and it picks up even the finest dirt free of residue. 17
WARNING: Never reach into the rotating brush roller when working with the turbo suction brush. Manual turbo brush [N] (Optional accessory): The manual turbo brush has a high-performance brush roller which is driven by the air stream of the vacuum cleaner. Use this for thorough cleaning of mattresses, upholstered furniture or automobile seats. Textile nozzle [L] (Optional accessory): Used especially for upholstered furniture, curtains or garments. Perfect dust removal through extra-large lint and thread receptacle, which removes staticallyclinging lint and hair. Turbo suction brush [M] (Optional accessory): The turbo suction brush has a high-performance brush roller which is driven by the air stream of the vacuum cleaner. It brushes up the dirt from the carpet pile and simultaneously vacuums it off. If long threads, hair or similar should have become wound around the brush roller, you can remove these after opening the manual turbo brush. Adjust the rotating nozzle setting to the middle marker[19]. If the brush roller is blocked by coarse dirt, this must be cleaned. 18 Press stop knob [20] and pull out the nozzle.
WARNING: Never reach into the rotating brush roller when working with the turbo suction brush or electrical suction brush. Operation Vacuum-cleaning Ensure before use that all filters and the dust bag are correctly inserted and are not damaged. The excellent filter effect, particularly important for allergic persons, is achieved only with intact, correctly employed filters. Fold up the housing part [21]. WARNING: Check the device and the power cable before every use. A damaged device means risk of injury and must not be employed. After cleaning of brush-roller, turbine wheel and belt, close the turbo brush again in reverse order. Electrical suction brush [O] (Optional accessory): With the motor-driven, powerful brush roller, even the deepest entrenched dirt is removed from the pile of textile floors of every type. Place on the required nozzle. Pull the mains cable out with the plug to any arbitrary length and plug it into a power outlet. The small MIN-LED in the display [23] flashes = Stand-by-stage Operator panel with innovative convenience Sensor-touch operating elements, in order to operate the S 350 contact-free with the hand or foot. Switch ON [25] The first three LED's in the display [23] light up = ECO stage Switch OFF [25] The small MIN-LED in the display [23] flashes = Stand-by stage Increase the suction force with the Plus field [24] Reduce the suction force with the Minus field [22] > According to the suction force which is set-adjusted, one (MIN) to five (MAX) LED's light up in the display [23]. 19
Use the Minus field [22] for the permanent reduction of the suction capacity. Save energy. NOTICE: Filter change indication [27]: In case of full dust bag or filters, as well as with clogged up accessories (hose, tube, nozzle), the filter change indication lights up. In this case, replace the dust bag and/or the clogged up filters (see Page 14) or remove the stoppage. NOTICE: If the device is switched off for a break, with switching on again it starts automatically with the last set-adjusted suction force (memory function). The suction capacity can also be adjusted with the suction controller [26] on the handle of the suction hose. Use this controller (slider) only for short-term reduction of the suction capacity. For normal suction, however, you should keep this closed. In case of utilization of the turbo mattress brush or the crevice nozzle, it can be that the filter change indication lights up before dust bag or filter are full. This depends on technical conditions and does not represent any impairment of function. Device plug connection [28] in the finger grip of the handle for the connection of an optionally available electrical suction brush. 20
Suction tube storage position with automatical suction disconnection Ergonomically shaped carrying handle [C] for secure carrying (transport) of the device with complete accessories, such as suction hose, telescopic filling tube and nozzle. Use the stowage holder in order to securely retain the suction tube during breaks. For this, insert the stowage holder [29] of the floor suction nozzle into the nozzle holder bracket on the rear of the device; the motor is switched off automatically in this case. After vacuuming WARNING: Carry out the following steps as soon as you stop vacuuming. Never leave the device unattended. Switch off the device using sensor field [25]. The small MIN-LED in the display [23] flashes = Stand-by stage Pull the plug from the power outlet. For this, insert the stowage holder [29] of the floor suction nozzle into the nozzle holder bracket on the underside of the device. Cable winder with automatic return system Pull briefly on the cable - it is automatically pulled in and rolled up. Guide the cable in this case by hand, until the cable is completely pulled in and the plug is in its position. 21
Place the vacuum cleaner for safekeeping at a location inaccessible to children. ATTENTION: Do not place the device near heat sources and avoid direct solar radiation. Heat can damage the vacuum cleaner. Version 2: Dust bag with paper plate and hygiene disposal ledge: Lift the dust bag holder [31] and remove the full dust bag in the indicated direction by means of the disposal ledge [32a] - thus the filter opening is closed. Changing dust bag WARNING: Before you begin with maintenance and cleaning, switch off the device and pull out the power plug. In the case of inserted power plug, the device could be switched on by mistake and cause injuries. NOTICE: Use only original Fakir filters. Only in this way can the excellent filter effect of the vacuum cleaner be retained. Press the release button [30] for the filter enclosure cover [C] and open the filter enclosure. Insert the new dust bag completely into the dust bag holder [31] and close the filter enclosure cover until it engages. Filter enclosure cover close-off The filter enclosure cover close-off [33] prevents that the device (sucked) can be operated if no dust bag is present or if the dust bag is incorrectly inserted. Version 1: Dust bug with plastic plate and hygiene disposal cover: Close the dust bag by means off the hygiene disposal cover [32]. Lift the dust bag holder [31] and remove the full dust bag in the indicated direction. 22 Changing main microfilter Open the filter enclosure, remove the dust bag and fold up the dust bag holder as described in the chapter on "Changing dust bag". Fold out the grating [34] of the MICRO VARIO filter cassette. Replace the main micro-filter [35] and close the grating securely again. Alternatively, you can also take the filter cassette from the filter enclosure and then replace the main micro-filter. Insert the dust bag again and close the filter enclosure.
NOTICE: Change the Vario-Kombi microfilter at least every 6 12 months. Alternatively, you can also use the following filters, which are available as optional accessories: HEPA filter Active odor filter NOTICE: Change the main micro-filter, at the latest, after the consumption of 5 dust bags. Changing exhaust-air micro-filter Press the side release button [37] and open the filter covering [F]. Remove the old exhaust-air micro-filter [38] and insert the new one. Re-insert the filter covering [F] precisely fitting and close it until it engages. Changing Vario-Kombi micro-filter Open the filter enclosure, remove the dust bag and fold up the dust bag holder as described in the chapter "Change dust bag" Take out the MICRO VARIO filter cassette. Remove the old Vario-Kombi micro-filter [36] from the filter cassette and insert the new one. Insert the MICRO VARIO filter cassette together with the Vario-Kombi micro-filter again into the filter enclosure. Insert the dust bag again and close the filter enclosure. NOTICE: Change the exhaust-air microfilter, at the latest, after the consumption of 5 dust bags. WARNING: Switch the vacuum cleaner off and pull out the power plug before you begin any cleaning and maintenance. This prevents the device being switched on by mistake. 23
Cleaning Do not use any cleaning agents, abrasives or alcohol. These damage the casing. Clean the device dry only or with a moist cloth. You can also clean the filter enclosure with a moist cloth, as required. Check vacuum accessories, such as hose, tubes and nozzles, regularly for possible clogging and clean; where appropriate, rinse and dry. Dispatch Carry the appliance in the original package or a similar, well-padded package to prevent damage to the appliance. If the device should not work satisfactorily (decreased suction capacity, unusual noises or failure), first check whether the filters are full or clogged, and whether suction paths have clogged up.
