BONDING METHODS Generally used four methods for windings fixation at the Self bonding type enamelled wires 1-HotAir Bonding Hot airbonding isaccomplished during the winding process bymeans ofa jet ofhot air. The temperature ofthe hot airatthe winding, usually between 140 C and 230 C, isdependent upon the wire size, winding speed, and the size and shape ofthe winding.this method isrecommended for the majority ofapplications. Itiscost effective forfine wire and isrecommended forsizes 0,010-0,14 mm. 2-Oven Bonding Oven bonding isaccomplished byathermal treatment ofthe finished winding ina heat chamber. Dependent upon the size ofthe winding, healing times of 5to30minutes inatemperature of 130 C to 220 C are necessary inorder to obtain uniform heating ofthe windings. Because ofthe longer times needed oven bonding can be uneconomical forsome applications. 3-Resistance Bonding Resistance bonding is bonding by means of an electric current (resistance heating). Current intensity is dependent upon wire size and winding size. Resistance bonding isgood forsizes heavier than 0,10 mm but care should be taken not tooverheat the center ofthe winding because overheating could crack ordestroy the base insulation, resulting inshort circuits. 4-Solvent Bonding Solvent bonding isaccomplished byapplying suitable solvents, like denatured alcohol, during the winding process. The solvent can be brushed, sprayed, or wicked on the winding. This method should be considered ifthe winding consists ofonly asmall number ofturns.
