Debian Etch Vmware ESX kurulum debian-40r6-i386-netinst.iso dosyası indirilir. Vmware Infrastructure yazılımı üzerinden Sanal makine oluşturulurken, Debian seçeneklerde gelmediğinden Ubuntu(32 bit) seçimini yapıyoruz. Kurulum CD'si için netten indirdiğimiz iso dosyasını gösteriyoruz. Fiziksel bir makineye debian nasıl kuruluyorsa o şekilde kurulumu bitiriyoruz ( Desktop olarak kurdum). Kurulum işlemi bittikten sonra vmware-tools'u kuruyoruz (10Mbit olarak görünen ethernet kartını 1Gbit'e çıkarmak ve ekran çözünürlüğü iyileştirmesi gibi işlemler için gerekli). Bunun için öncelikle /etc/apt.conf/sources.list dosyasındaki CDROM satırının başına # ekleyerek kurulum cd'sini, kurulum kaynaklarından çıkartıp kuracağımız paketlerin internetten (depo) indirilip kurulmasını sağlıyoruz. apt-get update apt-get upgrade aptitude install autoconf automake binutils cpp gcc linux-headers-$(uname -r) make psmisc Vmware penceresinden Install Vmware-tools düğmesine tıklanır.
