(İnsanları ya da nesneleri tanımlamak için karşılaştırmalı sıfatları kullanırız.) E.g.: I feel better today. (Bugün daha iyi hissediyorum.) 11 She looks happier now. (Şimdi daha mutlu görünüyor.) (İki insanı ya da nesneyi karşılaştırmak için karşılaştırmalı sıfatlarla birlikte than kullanırız.) E.g.: My sister is taller than me. Sena is more stubborn than her brother. Write examples using the comparative adjectives and than. (Karşılaştırmalı sıfatlar ve than kullanarak örnekler yazınız.) 12
Forgetful Dishonest Punctual Thoughtful Tidy GRADE 7 - UNIT 1 13 The usage of adjectives in the comparative form can change according to their structures. (Sıfatların karşılaştırmalı yapıdaki kullanımları yapılarına göre değişiklik gösterebilir.) E.g.: A rabbit is faster than a turtle. Their house is larger than our house. My grades are better this year than last year. Short adjectives (fast, short, etc.), take er at the end. If the adjective has only one syllable and there is a vowel between two consonants (hot, big, etc.), the last consonants are repeated before er. (Kısa sıfatlar (fast, short gibi) sonlarına er eki alırlar. Eğer bir sıfat tek heceden oluşuyorsa ve iki sessiz harf arasında bir sesli harf varsa, son sessiz harf tekrarlanır.) E.g.: The weather is hotter than yesterday. (hot hot-t-er) My car is bigger than yours. (big big-g-er) She wants to be thinner. (thin thin-n-er)

(Eğer bir sıfat y ile bitiyorsa (happy, easy gibi), sondaki y, i ye dönüşür.) E.g.: They look happier when they re outside. (happy + er happ-i-er) Mathematics is easier than Science. (easy + er eas-i-er) If the adjective ends in e (large, nice, etc.), it only takes r at the end. (Eğer bir sıfat e ile biterse (large, nice gibi), sonuna sadece r alır.) E.g.: This room is larger than the other one. The red tie is nicer than the purple one. 14

They are used with more before them. (İki veya daha fazla heceli sıfatlar (beautiful, expensive gibi) sonlarına er eki almazlar. Önlerine more getirilerek kullanılırlar.) E.g.: He looks more beautiful with a black suit. This phone is more expensive than I thought. Some adjectives can be used both with more and er at the end. (Bazı sıfatlar hem more ile hem de sonlarında -er ile kullanılabilirler.) E.g.: This formula is more common / commoner than the other. Kane isn t more clever / cleverer than Julia. 15

(Bazı sıfatlar yaygın kurallarla kullanılmazlar. Bunlar düzensizdirler ve bu sıfatları ezberlemeniz gerekmektedir.) E.g.: Susan is a better person than her parents. The weather is worse than yesterday. My house is farther than you think.
