Böylece Termal Seramik, artan ihracat ve iç piyasa talebine cevap verebilmek ve ürün gam n gelifltirmek amaçl gerçeklefltirmeyi planlad üç aflamal yat r m projesinin ilkini gerçeklefltirmifl oldu. 20x20 cm den, 60x60 cm ye kadar de iflik ebatlarda Termal Seramik opens its second factory yer karosu ve granit, 25x33, 33x45, 25x40,30x60 cm ebatlar nda tek piflirim duvar karosu ve 10x10 cm yer ve duvar karosu yan nda her türlü aksesuar üretimi yap lacak olan tesis dört ayr üniteden olufluyor. 6 milyon m 2 /y l s rl porselen üretilecek tesiste ayr ca 750 bin m 2 /y l kapasiteli 10x10 ve trim üretimi de devreye girecek. Fabrikan n ilk iki ünitesinin toplam kapal alan 28.500m 2, kapasitesi 6 Milyon m 2 /y l. 2006 y l n n Ocak ve Eylül aylar nda devreye girecek olan di er iki ünite ile birlikte II. fabrikan n toplam kapasitesinin 16 milyon m 2 ye ve Termal Seramik toplam kapasitesinin 25 Milyon m 2 /y l a ulaflmas bekleniyor. Termal Seramik s second ceramic factory was launched by the opening ceremony held in Bilecik on September 11 with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdo an, ministers, members of parliament and other leading officials of the state attending. The opening ribbon of the factory, whose foundation was laid in 2003 by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdo an, was cut again by Prime Minister Erdo an. Thus, Termal Seramik realized the first phase of the three-phase investment project planned to achieve for satisfying the increasing export and domestic market demand and developing its product range. The facility, where floor tiles and granite in sizes ranging from 20x20 cm to 60x60 cm, single fired wall tiles of 25x33, 33x45, 25x40 and 30x60 cm, floor and wall tiles of 10x10 cm and all types of accessories will be produced, comprises four separate units. Also, 750 thousand m 2 /year capacity 10x10 and trim tile production will start at the facility where 6 million m 2 / year glazed porcelain will be produced. The total indoor area of the first two units of the factory is 28,500 m 2 with a capacity of 6 million m 2 /year. It is expected that, together with the two other units to become operational in January and September of 2006, the total capacity of factory 2 will reach 16 million m 2 and the overall capacity of Termal Seramik will go up to 25 million m 2 /year.

Over 100 products were developed for the collection designed by Ross Lovegrove and given the name Istanbul. The meeting was attended by executives and important customers of Eczac bafl and VitrA alongside of architects, interior decorators and designers engaged in the field of design from Turkey and all over the world. Ross Lovegrove, who was interested in Turkish ceramic and bathroom culture closely in his visit to stanbul, developed a new perspective inspired by the ethnic composition, architecture and customs of Turks. Examining the Ottoman geometry and the art of calligraphy, he evaluated these as organic arts with high sensitivity, which may be both graphical and also fluid. The name of the collection was due to Lovegrove s being influenced by Istanbul very much, calling it an open museum where different cultures merged.

Frit Factory Continuous Frit Kiln No.9 The kiln designed by improving existing kilns with a production capacity of 18 tons/day frits brings significant energy and maintenance cost savings and productivity increase. Floor Tile Factories 4, 5, 6 Modernization Project These factories, which ran under classic stock system, were transformed into the continuous system under the project. As a result, increases in quality, energy savings and productivity will be achieved alongside of approximately 20 % increase in production per person. Wall Tile Factory 7 and Granite Factory Press Projects In this project, 4 new presses and 3 vertical driers will be built resulting in productivity increase, capability to produce tiles in larger sizes and increase in productivity. Zeynep Bodur Okyay Mentally Retarded Children Rehabilitation Center Zeynep Bodur Okyay Mentally Retarded Children Rehabilitation Center, which was launched the same day, started to offer services with 6,000 m 2 outdoor and 3,600 m 2 indoor space. Bodur stated that the center was highly important for the care and education of retarded children. The opening ribbon of the center was cut by 9th President Süleyman Demirel, Minister of State Nimet Çubukçu, Minister of Internal Affairs Abdülkadir Aksu, Ibrahim Bodur, Süleyman Bodur and Zeynep Bodur Okyay.

Yamaner noted that the industrymade a major leap in the last 20-25 years becoming one of the leading players in the world currently, yet that the ceramic auxiliary industry failed to achieve the same thing. Tüm fuar ziyaretçilerinin yo un ilgi gösterdi i Ege Seramik Stand, sektörün uluslararas en önemli fuarlar ndan olan Cersai 2005 de Türk Serami i ni baflar yla temsil etti. The Ege Seramik Stand of 135 m 2 was prepared in minimalist style and in two different concepts. The contestants participating in the international Craftsmen Contest in the aesthetics discipline created their free size, lathe turned form designs in one day, displaying all their skills. As a result of evaluation of approximately 70 works, Bilal Deniz was awarded the first prize, Vedat Dura the second prize, Yorgos Akamatou the third prize and in order, the works of Tansu Çetiner, Ali Hikmet Koç and Ibrahim Gönen were deemed worthy of receiving honorable mention awards. In the international Young Craftsmen Contest in the Technical Discipline, the first prize went to U ur Tokmak, the second prize to Ali Hikmet Koç and the third prize to Veysi Polat. In order, Veysel Çoban, Gökhan Taflhomcu and Mehmet Oral received the honorable mention awards.

Termal Seramik, a second generation fine artist of modern ceramics, continues to advance masterfully in the original ceramic style she created. The blue ceramics of the artist, which are the indicators of her experience and work, are a result of her moving towards the plain, the unicolor as time progresses. When advancing on a path going from the fully local to the universal, Çobanl makes references to our traditional ceramics by modern interpretations, starting from the widely known traditional bowl culture. She attempts to render her ceramics meaningful with a high fired glazing technique and a picturesque decorative style on the ceramic surface, with a plain style of expression. The artist, who found the opportunity to work with undercoats in various temperatures in Australia where the eastern and western synthesis is kneaded, reflects this to her works with original, technical and aesthetic searches. In her book titled The Blue Art Zehra Çobanl Ceramics in which she compiled her works in the latest period, she shows that she carried the powerful expression of these works to a top level in terms of technique and aesthetics. As the indispensable color of Ottoman tiles, blue becomes the striking color of her works; she uses first of all the tugras of sultans as design, as a tool of expression, as a starting point, in time to be replaced by calligraphic interpretations and arrangements on surfaces. In her other designs, again the Ottoman tulip, the indispensable haliç design of znik tiles and chintemani are found in Çobanl s works with aesthetic interpretations all on their own. Among these works are plates, jars, boxes, bowls, boxes with lids, teapots, vases, glasses, bird figures and installation works including forty-arrangements at times.

Ceramic industry cooperation projects The heads of the Cooperation Project Work Groups materializing as a result of the ceramic industry search conference held in Bolu, Abant, June 18-19, came together in Istanbul on October 3 under an organization by Central Anatolia Exporters Union General Secretariat. A large number of representatives from public agencies, the private sector and universities attended the meeting chaired by Süleyman Caner, Union of Chambers and Exchanges of Turkey/Ceramic and Refractory Industry Board Chairman. At the meeting where twelve of the created work groups did an overall evaluation of the work performed so far in their fields, Turkish Railways representatives commented on ports and railways and Euro Palet. Turgut Gür, Turkish-Russian Businessmen Council Chairman attended the meeting with a comprehensive presentation on the Russian market. On October 4, a meeting was held for determining the machine demand in the ceramic industry for producing the high technology employed in the ceramic industry in our country, keeping the foreign currency to leave the country within the country by bringing together the purchasers of machinery used in the ceramic industry and the local machine manufacturers as part of Ceramic Machinery and Side Industry Development Project.
