C. Akça ATAÇ is currently on the teaching staff of Çankaya University, Department of Political Science and International Relations. After completion of her M.A. thesis The War of Pamphlets, 1807-1809: A Significant Crisis within the Missionary Challenge to the East India Company s Religious Policy of Non- Interference [ Risaleler Savafl, 1807-1809: Do u Hindistan fiirketi nin Dinsel Hoflgörü Politikas na Karfl Misyonerlerin Tepkisi ile Ortaya Ç kan Önemli bir Kriz ] at Bilkent University in 1998, she received her Ph.D. in history from the same university in 2006 with a dissertation entitled British Philosophical History and the Empires of Antiquity [ ngiliz Felsefi Tarih ve Antik Ça mparatorluklar ], and pursued postdoctoral study at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Her research interests include theories of empire, European integration history, and the Eighteenth-Century British Empire. Among her recent publications is Re-entering the Cosmopolitan Phase of Imperium: Remarks on Obama s Presidency and Discussions of American Empire, in Perceptions: Journal of International Affairs. She is currently working on her book chapter on Eighteenth-Century British historiography of ancient empires to appear in Enlightenment Historiography, which will be published by Brill, Leiden in 2011. Mustafa Zeki ÇIRAKLI has received his M.A. degree from Atatürk Üniversitesi, Department of English Language and Literature in 2001 with the thesis entitled T. S Eliot n Oyunlar nda Metafizik Gerçeklik [ Metaphysical Reality as Represented in the Dramatic Works of T. S Eliot ]. He holds his Ph.D. degree in English Literature from METU. His dissertation has been published as Narrative Strategies and Meaning: A Narratological Approach to William Golding s Fiction (Saarbrücken: Verlag Dr. Müller [VDM], 2010). He specializes in narratology and is a member of The Interdisciplinary Center for Narratology [ICN] initiated by Universität Hamburg. The courses she teaches include Balkan Politics, Eurasian Politics, EU-Turkey Relations, and Russian Politics and Foreign Policy. Her areas of specialization are the Balkans and the Caucasus, Turkish Balkan and Caucasian relations, Turkish foreign policy, and the European Union. Simultaneous with his graduate studies, he worked as a research assistant at the Faculty of Architecture in zmir Institute of Technology. He has completed his graduate thesis called Architectural Periodicals as a Reflective Medium of the Agenda: A Study on Turkish Architectural Media during the Republican Period under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ahmet Eyüce in 1999. Since 1999, he has worked in various architectural offices such as Paralel 41 Mimarl k where he worked with Ahmet Özgüner and Miar Mimarl k where he worked with Adnan Kazmao lu. Pursuing a freelance professional practice in 2003, he has been running his own architectural office in zmir since 2004. Starting from 2006, Özdel has also been working as a part-time instructor at the Department of Architecture in Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi. Erol SAYIN received his B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering from the Middle East Technical University in 1979, and his Ph.D. degree in Public Administration and Political Science from Ankara Üniversitesi in 1987. He served three years in Ankara Municipality s Planning Department, and then in Kent-Koop (Housing Cooperatives Association in Ankara) until 1988. He has taught as a part-time instructor in the Middle East Technical University, Faculty of Architecture between 1984 and 1989. He joined the Industrial Engineering Department of the Middle East Technical University as full-time faculty in 1989. He currently teaches courses like Management for Engineers, Technology Management, Qualitative Research, University Management, Municipal Planning, Business Process Reengineering, Organization Analysis and Theory. In the past he has also taught as a part-time staff at the Graduate Program on Distance Education of Anadolu Üniversitesi between 1996 and 2000, and at the Military Academy s Technology Management Graduate Program between 2001 and 2008. She is currently a Ph.D. student at Ankara University, Department of Political Science in the Faculty of Political Science. Since 2008, she has been a Ph.D. scholar at Çankaya University in the Department of Political Science and International Relations. Her main research interests are the political and legal structure of the European Union, migration, identity and Turkey-EU relations.
