Before wet use (i.e. vacuuming liquids and shampooing), never forget to: - remove the micro filter and the paper or cotton dustbag; - insert the red diffuser and the float unit. Check if the voltage indicated on the type plate corresponds to the local mains voltage before you connect the appliance.you can find the type plate on the bottom of the motor unit. Do not insert the mains plug into the wall socket until the appliance is completely ready for use. Make sure that your hands and the mains plug are dry when connecting or disconnecting the appliance. Always remove the mains plug from the wall socket: - if the appliance does not function properly;

9 - before cleaning the appliance; - before opening the container. Only vacuum dry materials and dust if the paper or cotton dustbag has been inserted into the appliance. Never vacuum ashes (from ashtrays and fireplaces) until they are completely cold. Never vacuum petrol, white spirit, gas oil, paraffin oil or other inflammable or explosive liquids. Do not use the appliance in rooms with explosive vapours (petrol, thinners, solvents). When vacuuming ashes, fine sand, lime, cement dust and similar substances, the pores of the paper dustbag may become clogged. In this case the paper dustbag must be replaced, even if is not full yet. Only use Athena paper dustbags or the cotton dustbag. Dustbags can be obtained from your dealer. For type numbers, see the table in 'Accessories'. Do not use the vacuum cleaner without the motor protection filter. Never immerse the motor unit in water. Never point the jet of shampoo at plugs, sockets or electrical appliances. Only switch the pump on if the shampoo reservoir has been filled, placed into the appliance and connected by means of the two shampoo hoses. Switch the pump off as soon as the shampoo reservoir is empty. The pump may get damaged if it runs dry. Keep the appliance and the cleaning liquid out of reach of children. Always switch the appliance off after use and remove the mains plug from the wall socket. Always empty, clean and dry the container after wet use. Let the appliance suck in dry air for few minutes to dry the inside of the tubes and hose.this prevents an unpleasant smell from occuring the next time you use the vacuum cleaner. It also prevents the paper dustbag from becoming wet. To extend its life, the shampoo pump should be cleaned with a mixture of water and white vinegar once a year. Follow the instructions in chapter 'Cleaning and maintenance'. Do not store the appliance at temperatures below 0cC to prevent it from freezing. Do not point the hose at the eyes or ears nor put it in your mouth when the vacuum cleaner is switched on and the hose is connected to the vacuum cleaner. If the mains cord or another part of this appliance is damaged, it must only be replaced by Philips or a service centre authorised by Philips in order to avoid hazardous situations. Noise level: Lc= 81 db [A] Preparing for use Connecting and disconnecting accessories ENGLISH 9 Hose 1 To connect the hose, insert it into the hose connector while turning it clockwise a little (fig. 1). 2 To disconnect the hose, pull it out of the hose connector while turning it anticlockwise a little (fig. 2). Tube 1 To connect the tube, press the spring-loaded button and insert the narrow section into the wider section.the button will pop up when inserted properly into the opening (fig. 3). 2 To disconnect the tube, press the spring-loaded button and pull the sections away from each other. Nozzle 1 You can connect the nozzle to the tube (fig. 30). 2 If you wish to have the nozzle close at hand (e.g. to clean stairs, upholstery, tapestries), you can connect the nozzle directly to the handgrip (fig. 4).

10 10 ENGLISH Dry or wet vacuuming Prepare the vacuum cleaner for either dry vacuuming or wet vacuuming. B NB:The appliance is ready for wet use when you remove it from the box to start using it for the first time. Preparing for dry vacuuming Always remove the float unit and the diffuser and insert the micro filter (specific types only) and the paper or cotton dustbag before vacuuming dry substances. 1 Always remove the mains plug from the wall socket first. 2 Detach the shampoo hose by turning it clockwise (1) and pulling it (2) (fig. 5). 3 Remove the shampoo reservoir (fig. 6). 4 Undo the clamps (fig. 7). 5 Lift the motor unit from the container by means of the handle (fig. 8). 6 Turn the motor unit upside down (fig. 9). 7 Remove the diffuser (fig. 10). 8 Remove the float unit (fig. 11). 9 Insert a (new) dustbag. Press and hold the red lever when placing the cardboard front into the holder (fig. 12). 10 First insert the bottom edge (1).Then press the top edge into place (2) (fig. 13). Make sure that the two projections of the cardboard front point downwards and that the centre of the bottom edge rests on the ridge of the holder. 11 Slide the holder with dustbag into the appliance in such a way that the holder is kept in place by the two ridges in the container (fig. 14). 12 Put the motor unit back onto the appliance and close the clamps (you will hear a click) (fig. 15). 13 Put the micro filter into place (specific types only) (fig. 16). See chapter 'Replacement' for replacing the dustbag. Preparing for wet vacuuming Always remove the paper or cotton dustbag and the micro filter (specific types only). For vacuuming liquids, insert the float unit and the diffuser. For shampooing, insert the float unit, the diffuser, the shampoo reservoir (filled with shampoo and water), the double injection nozzle and the shampoo trigger. 1 Always remove the mains plug from the wall socket first. 2 Undo the clamps (fig. 7). 3 Lift the motor unit from the container by means of the handle (fig. 8). 4 Remove the dustbag (also see chapter 'Replacement', section 'Dustbags') (fig. 17). 5 Insert the float unit by means of the handle (fig. 18). B Note that the float unit only fits into the appliance in one way. 6 Turn the motor unit upside down (fig. 9). 7 Insert the diffuser (fig. 19). 8 Put the motor unit back onto the appliance and close the clamps (you will hear a click) (fig. 15).

11 9 Remove the micro filter (specific types only) (fig. 20). B Note that the micro filter will lose its electrostatic properties if exposed to excessive air humidity. Now the appliance is ready for vacuuming liquids. If you want to shampoo floors, follow the rest of the instructions below to prepare the appliance for shampooing floors. 10 Fill the shampoo reservoir with cold water (fig. 21). 11 Add one measuring cup of cleaning liquid to the full reservoir (fig. 22). 12 Attach the shampoo reservoir to the appliance (fig. 23). 13 Attach the short shampoo hose to the connector on the vacuum cleaner by inserting the shampoo hose into the connector (1) and turning it anticlockwise (2) (fig. 24). 14 Attach the long shampoo hose to the shampoo trigger (fig. 25). 15 Fix the shampoo trigger to the handgrip of the suction hose (fig. 26). 16 Firmly insert the end of the long shampoo hose into the connector on the vacuum cleaner (you will hear a click) (fig. 27). To release the shampoo hose, push the ring towards the appliance (fig. 28). 17 Attach the long shampoo hose to the suction hose and suction tubes by means of the clips (fig. 29). 18 Attach the double injection nozzle (fig. 30). The appliance is now ready for shampooing soft floors, such as carpets and rugs. Using the appliance Switching the appliance on 1 Pull the mains cord out of the appliance and insert the mains plug into the wall socket (fig. 31). 2 Switch the appliance on (fig. 32). Dry vacuuming ENGLISH 11 Convertible nozzle (specific types only) The convertible nozzle is active over its full width and even vacuums from its sides. It is therefore very suitable for vacuuming along skirting boards, furniture and thresholds. The convertible nozzle can be used for vacuuming hard and soft floors (fig. 33). - Brush strip out for cleaning hard floors (wooden, ceramic, stone and synthetic floors) - Brush strip in for cleaning soft floors (carpets and rugs) Reach & Clean nozzle (specific types only) The Reach & Clean nozzle can be used on either carpets or hard floors.the nozzle can be put in 4 different positions, allowing you to also vacuum clean hard-to-reach places in an easy way.the nozzle can be turned 360 degrees clockwise as well as anticlockwise.when the nozzle is positioned lengthwise, the suction power is concentrated at the front side of the nozzle (fig. 34). To adjust the nozzle to the type of floor and the area to be cleaned, put your foot on one of the indicated spots on the nozzle and then turn the tube until the nozzle is in the required position (fig. 35). With the nozzle positioned breadthwise and the brush strip folded out, you can clean large hard floor areas.turn the tube until the brush strip pops out of the nozzle housing and the nozzle is positioned breadthwise (fig. 36).

12 12 ENGLISH With the nozzle positioned lengthwise and the brush strip folded out, you can vacuum clean small hard floor areas.turn the tube 90 degrees anticlockwise until the nozzle is positioned lengthwise with the brush strip still folded out of the nozzle housing (fig. 37). With the nozzle positioned breadthwise and the brush strip folded in, you can vacuum clean large soft floor areas.turn the tube 90 degrees anticlockwise again to position the nozzle breadthwise and to make the brush strip disappear into the nozzle housing (fig. 38). With the nozzle positioned lengthwise and the brush strip folded in, you can vacuum clean small soft floor areas.turn the tube 90 degrees anticlockwise again until the nozzle is positioned lengthwise with the brush strip still folded in (fig. 39). Crevice nozzle Use the crevice nozzle to clean narrow corners and hard-to-reach places. Small nozzle The small nozzle is especially suitable for vacuuming stairs, upholstery, curtains, etc. B If necessary, remove fluff from the nozzle with your hand and then vacuum it. Shampooing floors 1 Start shampooing as far away from the door as possible and then work your way towards the door. 2 Apply shampoo by squeezing the trigger on the handgrip of the tube (fig. 40). 3 Make overlapping strokes to cover the entire area to be cleaned. B If there are still traces of liquid on the area you have just cleaned, pass the vacuum cleaner over this area once more without applying shampoo. 4 After shampooing, release the trigger and switch the pump off. Keep the motor running (fig. 41). 5 Lift the nozzle off the floor and simply let the appliance suck up dry air for some time to dry the inside of the suction hose and tubes (fig. 42). 6 Switch the appliance off. Carpet shampooing: three techniques Depending on the degree of soiling, you can use (and combine!) the following three carpet shampooing techniques. Freshening up If the carpet (or part of it) merely requires freshening up, you do not need to apply a lot of shampoo. It is probably sufficient if you only apply shampoo when making the first stroke towards you. Then release the trigger and move the nozzle over the cleaned area a few times without applying shampoo. Deep cleaning For thorough cleaning of (part of) a very dirty carpet, move the nozzle over the area to be cleanded a few times while applying shampoo. Extra thorough cleaning (fig. 43). For extra thorough cleaning (badly soiled areas, stubborn stains), switch the motor off but keep the pump running. Squeeze the trigger to apply shampoo. Allow the shampoo to act on the area for several minutes. Be careful not to apply too much shampoo, as this may damage the carpet.

13 Carpet shampooing tips: - Never shampoo floors which are not water-resistant. If you are in doubt, contact the supplier of the carpet. - Do not shampoo delicate fabrics and handwoven or non-colourfast carpets. - Test the colourfastness of your carpet by pouring some shampoo dissolved in water onto a white cloth and rubbing this onto a normally hidden part of the carpet. If there are no traces of dye on the cloth, it can be assumed that the carpet is colourfast. - However, if dye comes off onto the cloth, do not shampoo the carpet. If you are in doubt, contact a specialist. - Vacuum the whole area thoroughly before you start shampooing. - Make sure that the room is well-aired during and after shampooing to allow better and quicker drying. - Allow the carpet to dry well before walking on it again: freshened-up areas normally require 30 minutes to dry, whereas deep-cleaned sections require approximately 2 hours to dry. Of course, the drying times also depend upon the amount of shampoo applied, temperature, air humidity and ventilation. - The transparent nozzles, i.e. the double injection nozzle and the upholstery nozzle, enable you to determine if your carpet or hard floor is clean by looking at the colour of the extracted solution. Hard floor shampooing The 3-purpose click-on hard floor adapter for the double injection nozzle consists of three familiar cleaning tools: (fig. 44). 1: a brush (to release sticky dirt from the floor) 2: a sponge (to release, distribute and rub in the shampoo) 3: a squeegee (to collect the shampoo from the floor so that it can be vacuumed) Snap the hard floor adapter onto the double-injection shampoo nozzle (fig. 66). Do not make very long strokes. 1 For effective scrubbing, just make back-and-forth strokes as you would with a regular vacuum cleaner. Normally it is sufficient to only apply shampoo while moving the nozzle forwards (fig. 45). 2 To dry the floor, just move the nozzle backwards slowly. Make sure that only the squeegee touches the floor and do not apply shampoo (fig. 46). 3 To remove shampoo effectively, make overlapping strokes and finish off with one stroke across as shown in the figure (fig. 47). Window cleaning (specific types only) 1 Attach the window washer to the handgrip of the hose or to the end of the suction tube (fig. 48). 2 Connect the shampoo hose to the window washer (fig. 49). 3 Switch the appliance on (fig. 43). 4 Switch the shampoo pump on (fig. 50). 5 Spray cleaning liquid onto the window by sqeezing the shampoo trigger (fig. 51). 6 Wash the window (fig. 52). 7 Put the window washer in the drying position (fig. 53). 8 Wipe the window dry (fig. 54). 14 14 ENGLISH Splashing is minimised thanks to the efficient spraying system and the high suction power of the appliance. This nozzle is very convenient for cleaning windows and flat surfaces. You can clean the windows with standard cleaning liquid or with a solution of water and methylated spirits (1 part methylated spirits to 9 parts water). Shampooing furniture Shampooing of upholstery and tapestries 1 Attach the upholstery nozzle directly to the handgrip (fig. 55). 2 This nozzle is very convenient for shampooing furniture, tapestries, curtains, etc (fig. 56). Storage 1 Switch the appliance off and remove the mains plug from the wall socket. 2 Press the cord rewind button.the mains cord is wound up automatically inside the appliance (fig. 57). NB: When the shampoo reservoir is attached to the appliance, the mains cord will not disappear completely into the appliance when the cord rewind button is pressed. 3 Store the small nozzles in the way shown in the figure (fig. 58). B B 4 The tube can be parked by inserting the clip in the slot on the side of the appliance (fig. 59). Note: to avoid accidental damage to the appliance, the clip will be released from the tube or from the appliance when the tube is pulled or knocked fiercely.you can simply snap the clip back onto the tube when this happens. Cleaning and maintenance Always switch the appliance off and remove the mains plug from the wall socket before cleaning the appliance. All parts of the appliance, including the container, can be cleaned with a damp cloth and, if necessary, some detergent. Make sure no water enters the motor unit! After wet vacuum cleaning 1 Empty, clean and dry the container. 2 Let the appliance suck up dry air for a few minutes to dry the inside of the tubes and hose. Cotton dustbag (specific types only) If you are using the cotton dustbag, we advise you to clean the motor protection filter once a year in lukewarm water. Make sure the filter is completely dry before reinserting it into the vacuum cleaner. Float unit and foam filter 1 Rinse the float unit and the foam filter (fig. 60). To guarantee an optimal lifetime for the foam filter, carefully remove it from the float unit.. (fig. 61)....and clean the filter separately (fig. 62). B You can squeeze the foam filter to remove excess water. Do not wring it!

15 Motor protection filter 1 The motor protection filter can also be removed for cleaning (fig. 63). 2 Rinse the motor protection filter under the tap (fig. 64). Do not forget to put the motor protection filter back into place. Double injection nozzle 1 Rinse the double injection nozzle under the tap (fig. 65). 2 You can remove the hard floor adapter and clean it separately (fig. 66). 3 Fill the container with lukewarm fresh water. Pump the water out via the two shampoo hoses into a sink or toilet.this will prevent shampoo residues to cake inside the hoses and to clog them up. Shampoo pump To extend the lifetime of the shampoo pump, it should be cleaned with a mixture of water and white vinegar once a year. 1 Pour 1 litre of white vinegar into the shampoo reservoir and top it up with lukewarm fresh water. 2 Let the appliance run in shampooing mode until the shampoo reservoir is empty. Collect the vinegar solution in a bucket. 3 Repeat this procedure with 1 litre of fresh water to rinse out any vinegar residues. Replacement Dustbag Paper dustbag (specific types only) 1 To remove a (full) dustbag, lift the holder with the dustbag out of the appliance by means of their grips (fig. 17). 2 Press and hold the red lever to release the cardboard front of the dustbag (fig. 67). 3 Throw the used dustbag away and insert a new one (see chapter 'Preparing for use', section 'Preparing for dry vacuuming'). B Please note that a new motor protection filter and a new micro filter are provided with each set of original Philips Athena paper dustbags. Cotton dustbag (specific types only) Instead of paper dustbags, you can use the cotton dustbag (provided in some countries).the cotton dustbag can be emptied and used repeatedly. 1 To remove the cotton dustbag, follow the instructions for removing paper dustbags. 2 Hold the cotton dustbag over a dustbin (fig. 68). 3 Remove the sealing clip by sliding it off the dustbag sideways (fig. 69). 4 Empty the dustbag into the dustbin (fig. 70). ENGLISH 15 5 Close the dustbag by sliding the sealing clip back onto the bottom edge of the dustbag (fig. 71). 6 Put the cotton dustbag back into the appliance. Follow the instructions for inserting paper dustbags in section 'Preparing for dry vacuuming'.

16 16 ENGLISH Filter Motor protection filter Never use the appliance without the motor protection filter. Replace the motor protection filter when inserting the first of a new set of paper dustbags (fig. 63). Micro filter (specific types only) When vacuuming dry substances, the electrostatic micro filter purifies the exhaust air by removing miniscule dust particles. In the course of time the effectiveness of the filter will decrease. Normally it suffices to replace the micro filter when inserting the first of a new set of paper dustbags. The indicator of the micro filter holder should remain white. If the filter has turned noticeably grey, we advise you to replace the filter (fig. 72). Especially if you suffer from pulmonary obstructive disease or if you have an allergy (pollen, dust, etc), it is advisable to replace the micro filter more frequently. Foam filter Replace the foam filter if it is damaged or very dirty. Mains cord If the mains cord of this appliance is damaged, it must always be replaced by Philips or a service centre authorised by Philips in order to avoid hazardous situations. Environment To make recycling possible, the plastics used for this appliance have been coded. The cardboard packaging has been made of recycled material and is fully recyclable. Vor dem Nassbetrieb (Flüssigkeiten aufsaugen und Schamponieren) ist Folgendes zu beachten: - Entfernen Sie den Microfilter und den Papier- bzw. Stoffstaubbeutel; - setzen Sie den roten Diffusor und die Schwimmereinheit ein. Prüfen Sie, bevor Sie das Gerät anschließen, ob die Spannungsangabe auf dem Typenschild mit der örtlichen Netzspannung übereinstimmt. Das Typenschild befindet sich unten an der Motoreinheit. Stecken Sie den Netzstecker erst in die Steckdose, wenn das Gerät vollkommen fertig zum Gebrauch ist. Ihre Hände und der Netzstecker müssen trocken sein, wenn Sie das Gerät anschließen oder vom Netz trennen.

19 Ziehen Sie stets den Netzstecker, - wenn das Gerät nicht ordnungsgemäß arbeitet; - bevor Sie das Gerät reinigen; - bevor Sie den Behälter öffnen. Saugen Sie trockene Substanzen und Staub nur, wenn sich ein Papier- bzw. Stoffstaubbeutel im Gerät befindet. Saugen Sie niemals Asche (aus Aschenbechern oder Kaminen), bevor sie ganz erkaltet ist. Saugen Sie kein Benzin, Spiritus, Öl, Parrafin oder andere leicht entzündbare bzw. explosive Flüssigkeiten. Benutzen Sie das Gerät nicht in Räumen, in denen sich explosive Dämpfe befinden (z. B. Benzin,Verdünner, Lösungsmittel). Beim Saugen von Asche, feinem Sand, Kalk, Zementstaub und ähnlichen Substanzen können die Poren des Papierstaubbeutels verstopfen. Der Staubbeutel muss dann ausgetauscht werden, auch wenn er noch nicht voll ist. Verwenden Sie ausschließlich Athena Papierstaubbeutel oder den Stoffbeutel. Staubbeutel sind von Ihrem Philips-Händler erhältlich. In der Tabelle "Zubehör" finden Sie die entsprechenden Typennummern. Benutzen Sie den Staubsauger nicht ohne den Motorschutzfilter. Tauchen Sie die Motoreinheit niemals in Wasser. Richten Sie den Shampoostrahl niemals auf Stecker, Steckdosen oder elektrische Geräte. Schalten Sie die Pumpe erst ein, nachdem Sie den Shampoobehälter gefüllt, in das Gerät gesetzt und mit den beiden Shampooschläuchen verbunden haben. Schalten Sie die Pumpe aus, sobald der Shampoobehälter leer ist. Die Pumpe könnte beschädigt werden, wenn sie trocken läuft. Halten Sie das Gerät und die Reinigungsflüssigkeit außerhalb der Reichweite von Kindern. Schalten Sie das Gerät nach jedem Gebrauch aus und ziehen Sie den Netzstecker aus der Steckdose. Leeren, reinigen und trocknen Sie den Behälter nach jedem Nass-Saugen. Lassen Sie das Gerät einige Minuten lang trockene Luft einsaugen, um Rohre und Schlauch von innen zu trocknen. Dadurch vermeiden Sie, dass das Gerät beim nächsten Gebrauch unangenehm riecht und der Papierstaubbeutel feucht wird. Um die Lebensdauer der Shampoopumpe zu verlängern, sollte sie einmal jährlich mit Wasser und Haushaltsessig gereinigt werden. Beachten Sie dabei die Anleitungen im Kapitel "Reinigung und Wartung". Bewahren Sie das Gerät bei Temperaturen über 0c C auf, damit es frostfrei bleibt. Richten Sie den Schlauch bzw. das Rohr niemals auf Augen oder Ohren; nehmen Sie den Schlauch oder das Rohr auch nicht in den Mund, wenn das Gerät eingeschaltet und der Schlauch an das Gerät angeschlossen ist. Ist das Netzkabel oder ein anderes Teil des Geräts defekt, darf es aus Sicherheitsgründen nur von Philips oder einem Philips Service-Center ausgetauscht werden. Vor dem Gebrauch Zubehör einsetzen oder abnehmen DEUTSCH 19 Der Saugschlauch 1 Stecken Sie den Schlauch mit einer leichten Drehung im Uhrzeigersinn in die Schlauchverbindung (Abb. 1). 2 Zum Abnehmen des Schlauches ziehen Sie ihn aus der Schlauchverbindung, indem Sie ihn etwas gegen den Uhrzeigersinn drehen (Abb. 2).

20 20 DEUTSCH Das Saugrohr 1 Zum Anbringen des Saugrohres drücken Sie die gefederte Taste und stecken das engere Teilstück in das weitere. Die Taste springt hoch, wenn sie richtig in der Öffnung sitzt (Abb. 3). 2 Sie nehmen das Saugrohr wieder ab, indem Sie die gefederte Taste drücken und die Rohrteile auseinander ziehen. Die Düse 1 Sie können die Düse am Rohr anbringen (Abb. 30). 2 Wenn Sie die Düse näher zur Hand haben möchten (z. B. zum Reinigen von Treppen, Polstern,Tischläufern), können Sie sie auch direkt am Handgriff anbringen (Abb. 4). Trocken- und Nass-Saugen Bereiten Sie das Gerät zum Trocken- bzw. Nass-Saugen vor. B HINWEIS: Wenn Sie das Gerät zum ersten Mal auspacken, ist es bereit für den Nassbetrieb. Vorbereitung zum Trockensaugen Nehmen Sie vor dem Trockensaugen stets die Schwimmereinheit und den Diffusor vom Gerät und setzen Sie den Microfilter (nur bestimmte Gerätetypen) sowie den Papier- bzw. Stoffstaubbeutel ein. 1 Ziehen Sie zuvor immer den Netzstecker aus der Steckdose. 2 Nehmen Sie den Shampooschlauch ab, indem Sie ihn im Uhrzeigersinn drehen (1) und herausziehen (2) (Abb. 5). 3 Nehmen Sie den Shampoobehälter ab (Abb. 6). 4 Lösen Sie die Klemmen (Abb. 7). 5 Heben Sie die Motoreinheit am Griff vom Behälter (Abb. 8). 6 Drehen Sie die Motoreinheit um (Abb. 9). 7 Nehmen Sie den Diffusor ab (Abb. 10). 8 Nehmen Sie die Schwimmereinheit heraus (Abb. 11). 9 Setzen Sie einen (neuen) Staubbeutel ein. Halten Sie den roten Hebel gedrückt, wenn Sie die Pappscheibe vorne am Staubbeutel in den Staubbeutelhalter einsetzen (Abb. 12). 10 Setzen Sie erst die untere Kante ein (1). Drücken Sie dann die Oberkante in Position (2) (Abb. 13). Achten Sie darauf, dass die beiden Vorsprünge der Pappscheibe nach unten zeigen und die Mitte der unteren Kante auf der Führungsrille des Staubbeutelhalters liegt. 11 Schieben Sie den Staubbeutelhalter mit dem Beutel so in das Gerät, dass der Halter durch die beiden Führungsrillen im Behälter in Position gehalten wird (Abb. 14). 12 Setzen Sie die Motoreinheit wieder auf das Gerät und schließen Sie die Klemmen (sie rasten hörbar ein) (Abb. 15). 13 Setzen Sie den Microfilter ein (nur bestimmte Gerätetypen) (Abb. 16). Siehe Kapitel "Ersatzteile" zum Austauschen des Staubbeutels. Vorbereitung zum Nass-Saugen Nehmen Sie stets den Papier- bzw. Stoffstaubbeutel und den Microfilter (nur bestimmte Gerätetypen) heraus. Setzen Sie zum Saugen von Flüssigkeiten die Schwimmereinheit und den Diffusor ein.

21 Setzen Sie zum Schamponieren die Schwimmereinheit, den Diffisor, den Shampoobehälter (mit Shampoo gefüllt), die Schamponierdüse und die Schamponierpistole ein. 1 Ziehen Sie zuvor stets den Netzstecker aus der Steckdose. 2 Lösen Sie die Klemmen (Abb. 7). 3 Heben Sie die Motoreinheit am Griff vom Behälter (Abb. 8). 4 Nehmen Sie den Staubbeutel heraus (siehe auch Kapitel "Ersatzteile",Abschnitt "Staubbeutel) (Abb. 17). 5 Setzen Sie die Schwimmereinheit mit dem Griff ein (Abb. 18). B HINWEIS: Die Schwimmereinheit lässt sich nur in einer Richtung in das Gerät einsetzen. 6 Drehen Sie die Motoreinheit um (Abb. 9). 7 Setzen Sie den Diffusor ein (Abb. 19). 8 Setzen Sie die Motoreinheit wieder auf das Gerät und schließen Sie die Klemmen (sie rasten hörbar ein) (Abb. 15). 9 Nehmen sie den Microfilter heraus (nur bestimmte Gerätemodelle) (Abb. 20). B HINWEIS: Der Microfilter verliert seine elektrostatischen Eigenschaften, wenn er zu hoher Luftfeuchtigkeit ausgesetzt wird. Das Gerät ist jetzt fertig zum Saugen von Flüssigkeiten. Wenn Sie Fußböden schamponieren möchten, richten Sie sich bitte bei der Vorbereitung zum Schamponieren nach der restlichen Anleitung. 10 Füllen Sie den Shampoobehälter mit kaltem Wasser (Abb. 21). 11 Geben Sie eine Messkappe mit Reinigungsflüssigkeit in den vollen Behälter (Abb. 22). 12 Befestigen Sie den Shampoobehälter am Gerät (Abb. 23). 13 Stecken Sie den kurzen Shampooschlauch in das Verbindungsstück (1) am Staubsauger und drehen Sie den Schlauch gegen den Uhrzeigersinn fest (2) (Abb. 24). 14 Befestigen Sie den langen Shampooschlauch an der Schamponierpistole (Abb. 25). 15 Befestigen Sie die Schamponierpistole am Handgriff des Saugschlauches (Abb. 26). DEUTSCH Stecken Sie das Ende des langen Shampooschlauches fest in das Verbindungsstück am Staubsauger (es rastet hörbar ein) (Abb. 27). Zum Lösen des Shampooschlauches schieben Sie den Ring gegen das Gerät (Abb. 28). 17 Befestigen Sie den langen Shampooschlauch mithilfe der Clips am Saugschlauch und den Saugrohren (Abb. 29). 18 Bringen Sie die Schamponierdüse an (Abb. 30). Das Gerät ist jetzt fertig zum Schamponieren von Textilböden, z. B.Teppichen und Teppichböden. Der Gebrauch des Geräts Das Gerät einschalten 1 Ziehen Sie das Netzkabel aus dem Gerät und stecken Sie den Netzstecker in die Steckdose (Abb. 31). 2 Schalten Sie das Gerät ein (Abb. 32).

22 22 DEUTSCH Trockensaugen Die Universaldüse (nur bestimmte Gerätetypen) Die Universaldüse saugt sowohl über ihre gesamte Breite als auch an den Seiten. Sie eignet sich also besonders zum Saugen von Scheuerleisten, Möbeln und Türschwellen. Die Universaldüse lässt sich zum Saugen von Hartböden und Textilböden verwenden (Abb. 33). - Mit ausgefahrener Bürstenleiste zum Reinigen von Hartböden (Holz, Fliesen, Stein, Laminat usw.) - Mit eingefahrener Bürstenleiste zum Reinigen von Textilböden (Teppiche und Teppichboden) Die Reach-&-Clean-Düse (nur bestimmte Gerätetypen) Die Reach & Clean-Düse lässt sich für Hartböden und Textilböden verwenden. Sie kann in 4 verschiedene Positionen gestellt werden, so dass Sie auch schwer erreichbare Flächen bequem staubsaugen können. Die Düse lässt sich sowohl im Uhrzeigersinn als auch gegen den Uhrzeigersinn um 360 Grad drehen.wenn die Düse in Längsrichtung benutzt wird, ist die Saugleistung an der Vorderseite der Düse konzentriert (Abb. 34). Die Düse wird auf den Bodentyp und die Art der zu reinigenden Fläche ausgerichtet, indem Sie den Fuß auf die gekennzeichnete Stelle setzen und das Saugrohr drehen, bis die Düse in der gewünschten Position steht (Abb. 35). Mit quer gestellter Düse und ausgefahrener Bürstenleiste können Sie große Hartbodenflächen reinigen. Drehen Sie das Rohr, bis die Bürstenleiste ausgefahren wird und die Düse quer steht (Abb. 36). Mit längs gestellter Düse und ausgefahrener Bürstenleiste können Sie kleine Hartbodenflächen reinigen. Drehen Sie das Saugrohr um 90 Grad gegen den Uhrzeigersinn, bis die Düse längs steht und die Bürstenleiste noch ausgefahren ist (Abb. 37). Mit quer gestellter Düse und eingefahrener Bürstenleiste können Sie große Textilbodenflächen reinigen. Drehen Sie das Rohr wieder um 90 Grad gegen den Uhrzeigersinn, bis die Düse quer steht und die Bürstenleiste in das Düsengehäuse eingefahren wird (Abb. 38). Mit längs gestellter Düse und eingefahrener Bürstenleiste können Sie kleine Textilbodenflächen reinigen. Drehen Sie das Saugrohr wieder um 90 Grad gegen den Uhrzeigersinn, bis die Düse längs steht und die Bürstenleiste noch eingefahren ist (Abb. 39). Fugendüse Benutzen Sie die Fugendüse zum Reinigen enger und schwer erreichbarer Flächen. Kleine Düse Die kleine Düse eignet sich besonders zum Saugen von Treppen, Polstern,Vorhängen usw. B Entfernen Sie gegebenenfalls Fusseln mit der Hand von der Düse und saugen Sie die Fusseln dann auf. Fußböden Schamponieren 1 Beginnen Sie so weit wie möglich von der Tür entfernt und arbeiten Sie sich dann in Richtung Tür vor. 2 Tragen Sie Shampoo auf, indem Sie den Auslöser der Schamponierpistole am Handgriff des Rohres drücken (Abb. 40). 3 Verteilen Sie das Shampoo so, dass die gesamte zu reinigende Fläche damit bedeckt ist. B Sollten sich auf der gerade gereinigten Fläche noch Spuren von Flüssigkeit zeigen, führen Sie das Gerät nochmals darüber, ohne Shampoo aufzutragen. 4 Lassen Sie nach dem Schamponieren den Auslöser der Schamponierpistole los und schalten Sie die Pumpe aus. Lassen Sie jedoch den Motor laufen (Abb. 41).

23 DEUTSCH 23 5 Heben Sie die Düse vom Boden und lassen Sie das Gerät eine Weile trockene Luft aufsaugen, um den Saugschlauch und die Rohre von innen zu trocknen (Abb. 42). 6 Schalten Sie das Gerät aus. Teppiche Schamponieren: Drei Methoden Je nach dem Ausmaß der Verschmutzung können Sie die folgenden drei Schamponiertechniken anwenden bzw. kombinieren. Auffrischen Wenn der Teppichboden ganz oder teilweise lediglich aufgefrischt werden soll, brauchen Sie nur wenig Shampoo aufzutragen. Wahrscheinlich genügt es Shampoo aufzutragen, wenn Sie das erste Mal die Düse zu sich heranziehen. Lassen Sie dann den Auslöser der Schamponierpistole los und führen Sie die Düse mehrmals über die gereinigte Fläche, ohne Shampoo aufzutragen. Tiefenreinigung Für die gründliche Reinigung eines sehr verschmutzten Teppichs (oder von Teilflächen) führen Sie die Düse mehrmals über die betreffenden Stellen und tragen dabei Shampoo auf. Besonders gründliche Reinigung (Abb. 43). Für eine ganz besonders gründliche Reinigung stark verschmutzter Flächen und hartnäckiger Flecken schalten Sie den Motor aus, lassen die Pumpe jedoch laufen. Drücken Sie auf den Auslöser der Schamponierpistole und tragen Sie Shampoo auf. Lassen Sie das Shampoo einige Minuten einwirken. Tragen Sie nicht zu viel Shampoo auf; dies könnte den Teppich beschädigen. Tipps zum Schamponieren von Teppichen: - Schamponieren Sie niemals Fußböden, die nicht wasserfest sind. Befragen Sie im Zweifelsfall den Teppichlieferanten. - Schamponieren Sie keine empfindlichen Gewebe, auch keine handgewebten oder nicht farbechten Teppiche. - Prüfen Sie die Farbechtheit Ihres Teppichs, indem Sie etwas Shampoo in Wasser auflösen, auf ein weißes Tuch geben und damit eine normalerweise nicht sichtbare Stelle des Teppichs einreiben. Gibt es keinerlei Abfärbung auf dem Tuch, ist anzunehmen, dass der Teppich farbecht ist. - Hat sich das Tuch jedoch verfärbt, sollten Sie den Teppich nicht schamponieren. Wenden Sie sich im Zweifelsfall an einen Fachmann. - Saugen Sie die gesamte Fläche gründlich, bevor Sie mit dem Schamponieren beginnen. - Lüften Sie den Raum während des Schamponierens und anschließend gründlich, damit der Teppich schneller trocknet. - Lassen Sie den Teppich gut trocknen, bevor Sie ihn wieder betreten: Aufgefrischte Flächen brauchen normalerweise 30 Minuten zum Trocknen, während gründlich gereinigte Teppiche ca. 2 Stunden lang trocknen müssen. Selbstverständlich hängt die zum Trocknen erforderliche Zeit von der Menge des aufgetragenen Shampoos, der Temperatur, der Luftfreuchtigkeit und der Luftzirkulation ab. - Durch die transparenten Düsen (Schamponier- und Polsterdüse) können Sie an der Farbe der abgesaugten Flüssigkeit erkennen, ob Ihr Teppich oder Hartboden sauber ist. Hartboden Schamponieren Der 3-Zweck Hartboden-Aufsatz für die Schamponierdüse setzt sich aus drei vertrauten Putzutensilien zusammen: (Abb. 44). 1. Bürste, um klebrigen Schmutz vom Fußboden zu lösen 2. Schwamm zum Auftragen,Verteilen und Einreiben des Shampoos 3. Gummiwischer zum Aufnehmen des Shampoos vom Fußboden, damit er gesaugt werden kann.

24 24 DEUTSCH Lassen Sie den Hartbodenaufsatz auf der Schamponierdüse einschnappen (Abb. 66). Machen Sie keine zu großen Bewegungen. 1 Bewegen Sie das Gerät zum gründlichen Schrubben wie beim normalen Staubsaugen vor und zurück. Meistens genügt es, nur bei der Vorwärtsbewegung Shampoo aufzutragen (Abb. 45). 2 Bewegen Sie zum Trocknen des Fußbodens die Düse langsam rückwärts.achten Sie darauf, dass nur der Gummiwischer den Fußboden berührt, und tragen Sie kein Shampoo auf (Abb. 46). 3 Um das Shampoo gründlich zu entfernen, führen Sie die Düse in sich überlappenden Bewegungen vor und zurück - und zum Schluss einmal quer - über den Boden (siehe Abbildung) (Abb. 47). Fensterputzen (nur bestimmte Gerätetypen) 1 Setzen Sie den Fensterwischer auf den Pistolengriff oder das Ende des Saugrohrs (Abb. 48). 2 Befestigen Sie den Shampoo-Schlauch am Fensterwischer (Abb. 49). 3 Schalten Sie das Gerät ein (Abb. 43). 4 Schalten Sie die Shampoopumpe ein (Abb. 50). 5 Sprühen Sie Reinigungsflüssigkeit auf das Fenster, indem Sie den Auslöser des Pistolengriffs drücken (Abb. 51). 6 Putzen Sie das Fenster (Abb. 52). 7 Stellen Sie den Fensterwischer in die Trockenposition (Abb. 53). 8 Wischen Sie das Fenster trocken (Abb. 54). Durch das wirksame Sprühsystem und die starke Saugleistung des Geräts werden Spritzer von Putzwasser weitgehend verhindert. Diese Düse eignet sich besonders zum Putzen von Fenstern und glatten Oberflächen. Sie können Fenster mit gängigen Fensterputzmitteln oder mit einer Mischung aus Wasser und Spiritus (1 Teil Spiritus zu 9 Teilen Wasser) reinigen. Möbel schamponieren Schamponieren von Polstermöbeln,Tischläufern und Vorhängen. 1 Stecken Sie die Polsterdüse direkt auf den Handgriff (Abb. 55). 2 Diese Düse eignet sich besonders zum Schamponieren von Möbeln,Vorhängen usw (Abb. 56). Aufbewahrung 1 Schalten Sie das Gerät aus und ziehen Sie den Netzstecker aus der Steckdose. 2 Drücken Sie die Kabelaufwicklungstaste. Das Netzkabel wird automatisch im Gerät aufgewickelt (Abb. 57). HINWEIS: Wenn der Shampoobehälter am Gerät angebracht ist, verschwindet das Netzkabel beim Drücken der Taste nicht ganz im Gerät. 3 Bewahren Sie die kleinen Düsen lt.abbildung auf (Abb. 58). B 4 Das Saugrohr kann festgestellt werden, indem Sie den Clip in den Schlitz hinten am Gerät stecken (Abb. 59).

25 DEUTSCH 25 B Hinweis: Um Beschädigungen am Gerät zu vermeiden, löst sich der Clip vom Saugrohr oder vom Gerät, wenn das Saugrohr stark gezogen oder gestoßen wird. In diesem Fall können Sie den Clip einfach wieder auf dem Rohr einschnappen lassen. Reinigung und Wartung Schalten Sie immer das Gerät aus und ziehen Sie den Netzstecker aus der Steckdose, bevor Sie das Gerät reinigen. Alle Geräteteile, auch der Behälter, können mit einem feuchten Tuch gereinigt werden - bei Bedarf mit etwas Reinigungsmittel. Achten Sie darauf, dass kein Wasser in die Motoreinheit gelangt! Nach dem Nass-Saugen 1 Leeren, reinigen und trocknen Sie den Behälter. 2 Lassen Sie das Gerät einige Minuten lang trockene Luft einsaugen, um die Rohre und den Saugschlauch von innen zu trocknen. Baumwoll-Staubbeutel (nur bestimmte Gerätetypen) Wenn Sie den Stoffstaubbeutel verwenden, empfiehlt es sich, den Motorschutzfilter einmal pro Jahr in lauwarmem Wasser zu reinigen. Der Filter muss vollkommen trocken sein, wenn Sie ihn wieder in den Staubsauger einsetzen. Schwimmereinheit und Schaumfilter 1 Spülen Sie die Schwimmereinheit und den Schaumfilter ab (Abb. 60). Um die optimale Nutzungsdauer des Schaumfilters zu gewährleisten, nehmen Sie ihn vorsichtig aus der Schwimmereinheit.. (Abb. 61).... und reinigen Sie den Filter separat (Abb. 62). B Sie können den Schaumfilter ausdrücken, um überschüssiges Wasser zu entfernen. Wringen Sie ihn aber nicht aus! Motorschutzfilter 1 Der Motorschutzfilter lässt sich ebenfalls zum Reinigen herausnehmen (Abb. 63). 2 Spülen Sie den Motorschutzfilter unter fließendem Wasser ab (Abb. 64). Vergessen Sie nicht, den Motorschutzfilter wieder einzusetzen. Schamponierdüse 1 Spülen Sie die Schamponierdüse unter fließendem Wasser ab (Abb. 65). 2 Sie können den Hartbodenaufsatz abnehmen und separat reinigen (Abb. 66). 3 Füllen Sie den Behälter mit klarem lauwarmem Wasser. Pumpen Sie das Wasser durch die beiden Shampoo-Schläuche in ein Spülbecken oder die Toilette. Shampoo-Pumpe Um die Nutzungsdauer der Shampoo-Pumpe zu verlängern, sollte diese einmal jährlich mit einer Mischung aus Wasser und Haushaltsessig gereinigt werden. 1 Geben Sie 1 Liter Haushaltsessig in den Shampoo-Behälter und füllen Sie ihn mit frischem lauwarmem Wasser auf. 2 Lassen Sie das Gerät im Schamponierbetrieb laufen, bis der Shampoo-Behälter leer ist. Fangen Sie die Essiglösung in einem Eimer auf. 3 Wiederholen Sie diesen Vorgang mit einem Liter klarem Wasser, um eventuell noch vorhandene Essigrückstände auszuspülen.

26 26 DEUTSCH Ersatzteile Staubbeutel Papierstaubbeutel (nur bestimmte Gerätetypen) 1 Nehmen Sie den (vollen) Staubbeutel heraus, heben Sie den Staubbeutelhalter mit dem Staubbeutel an den Griffen aus dem Gerät (Abb. 17). 2 Halten Sie den roten Hebel gedrückt, um die Pappscheibe vorne am Staubbeutel zu lösen (Abb. 67). 3 Entsorgen Sie den gebrauchten Staubbeutel und setzen Sie einen neuen ein (siehe Kapitel "Vorbereitung zum Gebrauch",Abschnitt "Vorbereitung zum Trockensaugen"). B Jede Packung Philips Athena Papierstaubbeutel enthält einen neuen Motorschutzfilter und einen neuen Microfilter. Baumwoll-Staubbeutel (nur bestimmte Gerätetypen) Statt der Papierstaubbeutel können Sie den Stoffstaubbeutel verwenden, der in einigen Ländern erhältlich ist. Der Stoffstaubbeutel kann entleert und wieder verwendet werden. 1 Beim Entfernen des Stoffbeutels halten Sie sich bitte an die Anleitung zum Entnehmen von Papierstaubbeuteln. 2 Halten Sie den Stoffstaubbeutel über einen Mülleimer (Abb. 68). 3 Schieben Sie den Verschlussclip seitlich vom Staubbeutel ab (Abb. 69). 4 Entleeren Sie den Staubbeutel über dem Mülleimer (Abb. 70). 5 Schieben Sie zum Verschließen des Staubbeutels den Verschlussclip wieder auf den unteren Rand des Beutels (Abb. 71). 6 Setzen Sie den Stoffstaubbeutel wieder in das Gerät. Halten Sie sich dabei an die Anleitung zum Einsetzen von Papierstaubbeuteln im Abschnitt "Vorbereitug zum Trockensaugen". Filter Motorschutzfilter Betreiben Sie das Gerät niemals ohne den Motorschutzfilter. Tauschen Sie den Motorschutzfilter aus, wenn Sie den ersten Papierstaubbeutel aus einer neuen Packung einsetzen (Abb. 63). Microfilter (nur bestimmte Gerätetypen) Beim Saugen von trockenen Substanzen filtert der elektrostatische Microfilter die kleinsten Staubpartikel aus der Abluft. Mit der Zeit lässt die Wirksamkeit des Filters nach. Normalerweise reicht es den Microfilter auszutauschen, wenn Sie den ersten Papierstaubbeutel einer neuen Packung einsetzen. Die Anzeige des Microfilterhalters sollte weiß bleiben. Hat sich der Filter deutlich grau verfärbt, sollten Sie ihn austauschen (Abb. 72). Es ist ratsam, den Microfilter häufiger auszuwechseln, wenn Sie unter Allergien bzw. allergischem Asthma leiden (Pollen, Hausstaubmilben usw.). Schaumfilter Tauschen Sie den Schaumfilter aus, wenn er beschädigt oder stark verschmutzt ist.

N'aspirez jamais d'essence, alcool éthylique, gazole, huile de paraffine ou d'autres substances inflammables. N'utilisez pas l'appareil dans une pièce avec des substances inflammables ou explosives (essence, diluants, solvant). Quand vous aspirez des cendres, de la poussière fine, plâtre, ciment et substances similaires, les pores du sac peuvent s'obstruer.vous devrez alors changer le sac, même s'il n'est pas complètement plein. Utilisez uniquement les sacs à poussières Athena ou le sac en coton. Les sacs à poussières sont disponibles auprès de votre fournisseur. Pour les numéros de type, consultez le tableau du chapitre "Accessoires". N'utilisez pas l'aspirateur sans le filtre de protection moteur. N'immergez jamais le bloc moteur dans l'eau. Ne dirigez jamais le jet de shampooing vers les fiches, prises murales ou appareils électriques. Activez la pompe uniquement après avoir rempli le réservoir de shampooing, monté et connecté à l'aides des tuyaux souples.arrêtez immédiatement la pompe si le réservoir est vide. Vous pouvez détériorer la pompe si vous la laissez fonctionner à sec. Tenez l'appareil et le liquide de nettoyage hors de portée des enfants. Arrêtez toujours l'appareil après utilisation et retirez la fiche de la prise murale. Après utilisation, videz, nettoyez et séchez le conteneur. Laissez l'appareil fonctionner à vide quelques minutes pour sécher l'intérieur du tuyau et des tubes.vous éviterez ainsi les odeurs désagréables et/ou que le sac papier ne prenne l'humidité.
