Key idea Dominoes 6a of 6 Bilimsel Araştırma Des ısınmayı araştırıyor Des laboratuarındaki masasında bir araştırma yaptı. İki plastik bardağa aynı miktarda buz koydu, (cup 1, cup 2) Birinci bardağın (cup 1) üstünü ve etrafını izole etmedi (sarmak, yalıtmak), fakat ikinci bardağın (cup 2) etrafını kalın bir bez ile sardı, ayrıca bardağın üstünü de kapattı. Des birer dakika arayla iki bardağın ısılarını ölçtü, aldığı sonuçlar üstteki grafikte görülüyor.
Key idea Dominoes 6b of 6 Scientific enquiry Focusing on English key words and scientific definitions The water in the cups had reached (ulaşmak) room temperature (oda sıcaklığı) What was happening in both cups (her iki bardak) in the first 5 minutes (ilk 5 dakika içerisinde)? 8 minutes Des said that the graph (grafik) shows that his prediction (tahmin) was correct (doğru). What do you think his prediction was? The same size, type and thickness (aynı ölçü, biçim ve kalınlıkta) of cup, put the cups in a similar position (aynı posizyon) on the bench, stirring (karıştır) the contents (içerik) of both cups Why did the lines for both cups join (birleşmek) and become horizontal (yatay çizgi) at `A`? That the ice would take longer to melt (erimek) in the insulated (izole edilmiş / sarılmış) cup. What would Des have to do to make sure his prediction (tahmin) was correct? The ice was melting He must repeat (tekrar etmek) the experiment (deney) Des correctly (doğru) said that the temperature (sıcaklık / ısı) of the water in cup 2 started to rise quickly (çabuk yükselmek) after about (miktar / kadar) minutes. Des says that he did a fair test (bir değişkenin etkisini ölçmek için deneydeki diğer tüm değişkenlerin sabit tutulması) by putting the same amount (aynı ölçüde) of ice in each (her bir) cup. What else (daha başka) would he have to do to make the test fair?
Key idea Dominoes 6b of 6 Scientific enquiry Model answers What did Des predict? Des predicted that. How did Des make it a fair test? Des made it a fair test by What does the graph show? The graph shows that, as the increases. The. At A the temperature reaches and therefore the line becomes (yatay). What happens at 10 0 C in both cups? In cup 1 In cup 2
Key idea sentences 3 of 6 Particles Make 10 correct sentences (cümle) by choosing a word (kelime) or phrase (deyim) from each column (her bölümden). Solids (Katılar) Liquids (Sıvılar) Gases (Gazlar) Cannot (olamaz) Can (olabilir) Spread (yayılmak) Have Take Melt (erimek) Evaporate (buharlaşmak) Condense (yoğunlaşmaksıvılaşmak) Solidify (katılaşmak) A fixed shape (sabit şekil) The shape of the container (kabın şekli) High density (yüksek yoğunluk) Be squashed (sıkıştırılmış) When heated (ısıtıldığında) Low density (düşük yoğunluk) A fixed volume (sabit hacim) Be poured (döküldüğünde) To fill the space available (kabı mümkün olduğunca doldurmak) Because the particles (çünkü parçacıklar) Gain (kazanmak/almak) energy and move further apart (birbirinden uzaklaşmak) Cannot move around, only vibrate (hareket edemez, titreşir) Move around but stay close together Gain energy and move around more Are close together Lose energy and move around less Lose energy and move closer together Are far apart (birbirinden uzak) Move around freely, at high speed
KS4 Chemistry Words How to use terminology in a sentence: Add your own words to the end of the list below Word (Kelime) Meaning (Anlamı) Picture (Resmi) Examples of use in a sentence (Cümle içinde kullanım) Atom The smallest part (en küçük parça) of an element that can exist (var olan). Atoms are so small that if you lined 50 million of them up in a row, they would reach about a centimetre. Electron A negative particle (negatif yüklü bir parçacık) inside (içinde) atoms, it orbits (çevresinde döner) the nucleus, has almost no mass (kütlesiz). See above (Üst resme bak) The electron has a negative charge. Neutron A very small particle (çok küçük parçacık) in the centre of an atom- it has no charge. See above The protons and neutrons lie in the tiny nucleus. Nucleus The centre of an atom. See above The weight of an atom is determined by the number of neutrons and protons that are present in the nucleus.
KS4 Chemistry Words Proton A very small particle (çok küçük parçacık) in the centre of an atom- it has positive charge (pozitif yüklü). See above The proton has a positive charge and it found in the nucleus of the atom. Element The simplest substances that can exist - they have only one kind of atom. The element carbon contains the same type of atom. NOT: Yazdığınız kelimeyi son sütunda, doğru bir cümle içerisinde kullanın.
Coursework Structure: Turkish 20/05/05 Heading / Başlık: Ders adı: Konu/Ödev Adı: Introduction / Giriş Yapacağın ödevin ne olduğunu birkaç cümleyle anlat. Aim / Amaç Bu konunun/deneyin amacı nedir? Bu araştırmayı yapmakla neyi bulmak istiyorsun?

Key Stage 3 National Strategy Questions for groups to answer Explain why Pluto s orbit takes 248 years and Mercury s orbit only takes 88 days Explain why Neptune and Pluto are the coldest planets Explain why there is a sunrise and a sunset on Venus Explain why there are seasons on Mars Explain why the moon can usually be seen in a clear night sky even though it is nonluminous (doesn t give out its own light) KS3 Science Strand Mini Booster 11 Earth & Beyond DRAFT Consultants Network meeting Nov 2004 Crown Copyright 2004
TITLE The reason why only takes 88 days is because Pluto & Neptune are the coldest because Venus has a and because Mars has seasons because :. The Moon is and can be seen in a clear because.
KS3 A SATs Question based on diagrams Alan put a test-tube containing solid (katı) stearic acid into a beaker of cold water (soğuk su). He heated (ısıttı) the water until it boiled (kaynayana kadar). Stop! Think and understand what it shows. (Dur! Düşün ve anla) Stop and look at the diagram! (Dur ve bak!) Look at the all parts of the diagram. (Herşeyi incele) Ask question if you don t know. (Anlamadınsa soru sor) He used a temperature sensor attached to data-logger to record the temperature of the stearic acid over the period of 35 minutes. A graph of the results is shown below. Think!!! What is happening at A,B,C,D. (Düşün!! A, B, C, D noktalarında ne oluyor?) What is this axis showing? (Bu eksen neyi gösteriyor?) What does this part mean? (Burada ne oluyor?) What is this axis showing? (Bu eksen neyi gösteriyor?)
Look at the graph for the answers. (Grafiğe bak) Steatic acid is a solid at room temperature. (i) (ii) (iii) Which letter on the graph opposite shows the point at which the steatic acid began to change state? Use the graph to find the temperature at which the stearic acid began to change state? Look at the graph. What was the physical state of the stearic acid: At point A? At point B? The test-tube transfers thermal energy (ısı enerjisi) from the water to the stearic acid. Strearic acid boils at 360 0 C. The stearic acid could not boil in this experiment. Give the reason for this. Look at the graph temperature axis. (Grafikte ısı eksenine bak)
