KISA ÖZGEÇMİŞ 1971 yılında Ardahan da doğdu. Orta ve Lise öğrenimini Ankara da bitirdikten sonra 1995 yılında Gazi Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi nden mezun oldu. 1996-2001 yılları arasında Gazi Üniversitesi Sağlık Bilimleri Enstitüsü Anabilim Dalı nda doktora eğitimini tamamladı. 2001 yılında Zonguldak Karaelmas Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Anatomi Anabilim Dalı nda yardımcı doçent olarak göreve başladı. 2003 yılında 3 ay süre ile Gazi Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi nde Akupunktur eğitimi aldı. 2007 yılında iki ay süreyle All Saints University of Medicine, Aruba da Visiting Professor olarak anatomi ve nöroanatomi dersleri verdi. 2009 yılında Doçent, 2014 yılında Profesör unvanı aldı. Halen Bülent Ecevit Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Anatomi Anabilim Dalı nda öğretim üyesi olarak çalışmaktadır. Dr. Banu ÖZEN BARUT ile evlidir ve bir çocuk babasıdır.
