First meeting of Turkish Network of Urban Morphology (TNUM), hosted by the Center for Mediterranean Urban Studies at Mersin University took place on 11 April 2014 in Mersin, Turkey. The main motive of the meeting was - to form a shared medium in order to share separate studies related with urban morphology - to discuss the possibilities to develop collaborative studies on urban form among researchers in different fields of knowledge and institutions at the national level. - and to widen the studies at the international level through cooperation with other regional networks and ISUF
The workshop was called Foundation Workshop - Center for Mediterranean Urban Studies will act as the secretary general of TNUM. - The researchers who took place in the workshop are acknowledged as the members of a steering committee, of which the chair is Ayşe Sema Kubat, from the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at Istanbul Technical University and her deputy is Tolga Ünlü, from the Department of City and Regional Planning at Mersin University and the director of the Center for Mediterranean Urban Studies. - a committee was formed in order to produce a bibliography of studies on urban form in Turkey. For that, the paper of Ayşe Sema Kubat, The Study of Urban Form in Turkey, published in the 14th volume and first issue of Urban Morphology was taken as the main body of knowledge to be elaborated. - it was determined that the first Symposium of TNUM will be organized at Mersin University, on 22-23 October 2015 in order to discuss the approaches and perspectives.

Main contribution may be in the field of interconnection of research and practice. - theorising the relation between the study of urban form and urban design/planning practice - piecemeal transformation of urban space - property relations and agents of change - green belts and their implementation - urban conservation and heritage management. - urban history
