Koç. In his speech, Rahmi M. Koç said, T.Sevgi tanker that we will launch now, is the first one of the two tankers we are building for Tupras. The number of the tugboats we have built for Tupras increased to three with the tugboat T.Damla 4. We will deliver the fourth after a month. T.Gonul tanker which is the sister of T.Sevgi, will follow this. We are launching this ship ten months after the first sheet cut. We will deliver it in 4 months, so we have the ability to build a tanker in 14 months. Our aim is to shorten this period to 12.5 months and to build ships and yachts those suit with the name of Koc. In his speech Erol Memio lu said, Safe transportation of crude oil is an important cost like its refining and putting it into market in our energy market. Because of this reason, it s decided that two product tankers should be built by RMK Marine Ship Industry and Sea Transportation Company. They can carry chemicals when needed. In addition to the tankers, new tugboats are decided to be built as the current tugboats got older, since they have been working since 1970 at Tupras and also they are inadequate because of the increasing ship tonnages. In this frame, 4 big and 1 small tugboats are being built at RMK Shipyard and 3 of them have been delivered. The mewbuilt tugboats will be used in the important duties such as berthing and leaving the tankers up to 300,000 dwt, providing fire safety onboard ship and sea at the port, and also life saving in emergencies. With the help of tugboats equipped with skills of high maneuver and being able to collect the oil waste in the sea; the terminal operations will be done safer and the terminal income will increase. Two companies started working to make Cesme an international attraction centre for the Cesme Marina Project. This year, there is also a Turkish sailor in the race in which the sailors will have a race on a 1670 nautical miles route by themselves. Olay Nautic who started to bring Figaro race which is one of the most important sailing activities of Europe, is adding a new dimension to the race by organizing Cap Istanbul solo in its third year. The race has entered the formal almanac of Figaro Beneteau Class Union till 2012 as the racers had a great pleasure from this route and successful organizations in the previous years. The importance of Cap Istanbul which is one of the hardest races of Figaro is at the top level in the shipping world. Because the sailors who can succeed in Figaro Class are remembered as real sailing sportsmen, they are able to prove their age of consent on this subject. Cap Istanbul which is the fifth and last Figaro Beneteau race of 2008 is being looked forward as it is the final of France Solitaire Championship. Istanbul Mayor Kadir Topbas as well as the mayors of Beyoglu, Kagithane, Uskudar participated in the ceremony. Topbas said, they had the authority in the management of the seas by the transfers of Inner City Line Operations to the municipality and they brought Istanbul to an important point at sea transport which was a city that did not use its sea. He also mentioned that they will make 22 billion YTL investments till the end of this year for Istanbul. He said we will spend 11.4 billion YTL for the comfortable transportation of the people living in Istanbul till the end of this year. He added that they had 1200 services with IDO everyday and they tried to use the sea which is a natural road in the best way. He explained that they gave importance to the usage of Sea Taxi on Kurbagalidere, Kagithane and Ayamama rivers in additon to the seas of Istanbul and by this way they could make sea taxi trips to many points such as World Trade Center and Fenerbahce Stadium. EMES started a direct service to Libya, which is one of the countries having the highest gross national product in Africa, in June. The service that is realized once in two weeks time, follows the route of Istanbul-Marport/Derince/ Benghazi/Misurata/ stanbul- Marport. EMES, with its 25 ships fleet, is the fourth biggest in the Mediterranean container line transporters. The new service can accept conventional and container cargoes onboard the same ship.
