If you are planning on not returning to Mt Hira College in 2016 please inform the Office at the soonest possible time. Contact information and emergency contact details are of utmost importance, so if you have moved or changed phone numbers please inform us so that we can update our information. This includes emergency contact numbers also. The VCE Orientation Program will commence next Monday 23 rd November. It is a very important time and all students enrolled in Units 1-4 must ensure that they attend the week orientation programs. PRIMARY NEWS The school year is coming to an end quickly. Booklists were distributed last Friday and could you please pay this by December 8th 2015. This will ensure that your child will have all their school supplies at the beginning of next year. The end of year activities have also been sent out and could you please return the forms and money to the office as soon as possible as the teachers would really appreciate this. I would like to thank the parents for their support in these matters. There is no school on Thursday 19th and Friday 20th due to correction day and report writing day. I would like to congratulate Rafraf Chowdhury for always displaying the Mt Hira values exceptionally and for doing a splendid job as school captain for 2015. Ms Natasha is very proud of your achievements and I am pleased to hear this sort of feedback from one of our school leaders. Ms Natasha would like to congratulate Ilayda Yan and Sami Abouzolf for demonstrating maturity and responsibility during her absence. This is really pleasing to hear that we have responsible and great students demonstrating the school values. Well done to both of you. A reminder orientation days for the primary students will be on Thursday December 3rd and Friday December 4th. This where the students find out who will be in their classes for next year and who is their teacher. Monday 7th December is activity day where the students will be out doing a variety of activities. Tuesday 8th December is the last day of school for the primary students. 29 EKİM CUMHURİYET BAYRAMI Türk Milleti olarak Cumhuriyet`e nasıl kavuştuk, kısaca sizlere açıklamaya çalışacağım. 1914 tarihinde başlayıp, 1918 tarihinde biten Birinci Dünya Savaşı sonunda, müttefik devletlerin yenilmesiyle, Osmanlı Devleti`de yenilmiş sayılarak, Mondros ve Sevr Antlaşmaları`nı imzaladı. Bunun üzerine İstanbul işgal edildi, ordularımız dağıtıldı. Bununla da kalmayan düşman devletler yurdumuza saldırarak; Tarihte hiçbir zaman yok olmayan Türk Devleti`ni ortadan kaldırmak istedi. Bu durumu gören Atatürk, 19 Mayıs 1919 da Samsun`a çıktı ve Kurtuluş Savaşı`nı başlattı. Atatürk, Önce Amasya Genelgesi`ni yayınladı. Halkın seçtiği temsilcilerin katılımı ile Erzurum ve Sivas Kongreleri`ni yaptı. Bu yapılan kongrelerde, vatanın bağımsızlığı için sonuna kadar savaşılmasına karar verildi. Atatürk milletin kendi seçtiği temsilcilerle 23 Nisan 1920 tarihinde Ankara`da Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi`ni kurdu. Başkanlığına, meclis tarafından M.K. Atatürk seçildi. Bu hükümet düzenli ordusunu kurarak, yurdumuzdan düşmanları temizlemek için gerekli çalışmalara başladı. Askeri,ekonomik ve siyasi alanda çalışmalar yaptı. << Meclis Hükümet Yönetimi >> ta o zamandan adı konulmamış bir Cumhuriyet yönetimiydi. Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi ve O`nun hükümeti, çağın en modern silah ve gücüne sahip düşman ordularına karşı yapılan; İnönü, Sakarya, Dumlupınar ve Başkomutanlık Meydan Savaşları`nı kazandı ve vatan toprakları 9 Eylül 1922 tarihinde düşmanlardan tamamen temizlendi. Böylece Türkler`in tutsak olarak yaşayamıyacağı bir kez daha dünyaya ilan edildi. Savaşın sonunda yapılan Lozan Barış Antlaşması`ndan hemen sonra Atatürk, çağı yakalamak ve modern bir Türkiye kurmak için gerekli çalışmalara başladı. 1 Kasım 1922 de saltanat kaldırıldı. Yerine Cumhuriyet yönetimi kabul edilerek 29 Ekim 1923 de Türkiye`nin yönetim biçiminin Cumhuriyet olduğu bütün dünyaya duyuruldu. Meclis tarafından ilk Cumhurbaşkanlığına Atatürk seçildi. Cumhuriyet bir yönetim biçimidir. Cumhuriyet halkın kendi kendini yönetmesidir. Cumhuriyet demokrasi ve özgürlük demektir. Atatürk kurduğu Türkiye Cumhuriyeti`ne Cumhurbaşkanı olarak çok büyük hizmetlerde bulundu. Sağlığında << Benim ölümlü vücudum elbet bir gün toprak olacaktır. Ama Türkiye Cumhuriyeti sonsuza kadar yaşayacaktır.>> Sözleriyle Türk Devleti`nin sonsuza kadar yaşayacağını belirtmiştir. Atatürk << Gençler Cumhuriyeti biz kurduk, Onu siz yaşatacak ve devam ettireceksiniz. >> Diyerek vatanımızın ve Milletimizin geleceğinin tek güvencesinin, siz Türk gençleri olduğunu açıkça ifade etmiştir. Bu vesile ile Kurtuluş Savaşı`mızın kazanılmasında ve bu vatan için canını seve seve veren aziz şehitlerimizi minnetle anıyor, Allah`tan rahmet diliyor, hepinizin Cumhuriyet Bayramı`nı kutluyor ve saygılar sunuyorum. 29 EKİM CUMHURİYET BAYRAMI Değerli Velilerimiz, Gecikmeli olarak kutladığımız 29 Ekim Cumhuriyet Bayramı programına göstermiş olduğunuz ilgiden dolayı teşekkür ederiz. Bu yıl Okulumuzun Spor salonunda yapılan VCE sınavları ve sene sonu okul programımızın 30 Ekimde yapılmasından dolayı Cumhuriyet Bayramı kutlama programını gecikmeli olarak 12 Kasımda gerçekleştirebildik. Programa 10 Kasım Atatürk ü Anma, Çanakkale Zaferinin 100. Yılı ve 24 Kasım Öğretmenler Günü de dahil edilmiştir. Siz velilerimizin katılımı ve katkıları için tekrar teşekkür ederiz. Dear Parents, We would like to thank you for your interest in our 29 th of October Republic Day Concert. The Republic Day Concert had to be delayed and carried out on the 12 th of November due to VCE exams, which were held in the school GYM, and our End of Year Concert on the 30 th of October. 10 th of November Remembrance Day of Ataturk, 100 th anniversary of Gallipoli Campaign and 24 th of November Teacher s Day were also included in the Republic Day Concert. Calling ALL Library Books! As it is nearing the end of the year I need all students primary and secondary to start returning all their books. Please return by 27 th of November. There will be no more borrowing after this date! If you have lost or damaged the book/books you will need to pay a fine of $10 a book by the due date. You will have NO library privleges in 2016 if books have not been returned or paid for. 2016 SECONDARY BOOKLISTS PLACE ONLINE ORDERS BY SUNDAY 13 TH DECEMBER Book and stationery lists for 2016 were distributed to students currently in Grade 6 and Years 7-11 on Thursday the 12 th of November. Parents are advised to purchase the required books and/or stationery from Lamont Books (the school s official supplier). Please ensure that you read the cover page of the booklist carefully as it explains the ordering process. If you have NOT received a booklist or you have misplaced it, please see the staff in the School Office for spare copies. Students have two options: ALL ORDERS MUST BE PLACED ONLINE at www.lamontbooks.com.au Home Delivery Option: Place your order online at www.lamontbooks.com.au Make the payment online. The ordered items will be couriered to your home address. Order by 13 th December: FREE home delivery Order on or after 14 th December: $9.50 fee for orders under $100; $15.00 fee for orders over $100. OR School Collection Option: Place your order online at www.lamontbooks.com.au. Payment for the order can be completed when you collect your books from school on Tuesday the 12 th of January between 2.00 pm and 4.oo pm. Order by 13 th December: NO processing and handling fee Orders placed from 14 th December 2015 to 5th January 2016: You will be charged a $5.00 processing and handling fee. Orders placed after the 5 th of January will be home-delivered and the standard home delivery charges will apply. Books cannot be collected from the Lamont Books office. They must be collected from school or homedelivered. This is to ensure that orders are efficiently dealt with in order of receipt. Booklists for Turkish, Arabic and Religious Education have also been distributed together with the main book and stationery lists. These books and materials can be purchased from the school office in Term One, 2016. If you are purchasing second-hand books please check that you are purchasing the correct TITLE and EDITION as stated on the 2016 booklist. Some subjects have an updated edition of the textbook used in 2015. Students have been provided with a Guide to Purchasing Second-Hand Books for 2016 sheet. This has a list of textbooks which can be purchased second-hand, as these titles and editions remain unchanged for 2016.
