After hearing that an oarswoman named Victoria Murden crossed the Atlantic between Canary Islands and the Caribbean Islands, Erden Eruc prepared his project to travel around the world entirely by human power. Eruc set out from Seattle by bicycle to climb Denali, the highest peak (6,195 meters) in North America, in the first leg of his project 6 continents and 6 peaks by muscle power on February 1, 2003. Having packed 80 kilograms of equipment on the trailer of his bicycle, Eruc reached the summit on May 29. On August 24 when he came back to Seattle, he had traveled total of 8,875 kilometers on a bicycle.
