Dear Parent(s), Welcome to our school! This year, we will learn English by reading, listening, writing, speaking, playing, entertaining games and singing songs in English. Parent bulletin will be sent out for every month explaining our lesson s content and the topics that are taught in it. Our main aim is to create awareness of English language, develop a positive approach to learning it and to provide young learners of this second language with a solid foundation to build on in the coming years. There is a process in which we as children learn our native language. As infants we are mainly silent, listening to the surrounding noises and words being spoken mainly communicating through gestures. This same kind of process happens when learning a second language as well. Everything is new. When the English lessons first commence, children are silent, taking in the new words and learning the gestures needed to communicate. Try not to push your child to speak before they are naturally ready. It will come in time. They must first build basic tools needed to speak and the confidence needed to go with it. Every child is different and moves at his / her own place. As the course continues, you will start to see your child s level of selfconfidence increase and how that directly affects his / her level of speaking English. Encouraging your child to learn English and valuing the work he / she produces at home, no matter how great or small, boosts his / her self-confidence and keeps him / her motivated. Sevgili Veliler, Hem siz hem de çocuğunuz okulumuza hoş geldiniz. Bu yıl İngilizceyi okuyarak, dinleyerek, yazarak, konuşarak, eğlenceli oyunlar oynayarak ve İngilizce şarkılar dinleyerek öğreneceğiz. Size her ayın sonunda bir veli bülteni göndererek, işleyeceğimiz dersin haftalık takibini paylaşacağız. Bizim en önemli amacımız, çocuğunuzda yabancı dilin farkındalığını yaratmak, çocuğunuzun İngilizceye karşı olumlu bir bakış açısı geliştirmesini sağlamak ve gelecek yıllardaki yabancı dil öğrenimine alt yapı hazırlamaktır. Ana dilimizi ilk öğrenmeye başladığımızda, hepimizin yaşadığı bir sessizlik dönemi vardır. Bu sessiz dönemde konuşmayız, etrafımızdaki sesleri dinler ve mimiklerimizle iletişim kurarız. Buna benzer bir dönem, ikinci dili öğrenmeye başladığımızda da yaşanır. Her şey bizim için yenidir. İngilizce dersleri başladığında, çocuklar hemen İngilizce konuşmaya başlamazlar; aynı ana dilimizi öğrenmeye başladığımız süreçteki gibi sizi daha çok dinlerler ve mimikleri ile iletişim kurarlar. Bu yüzden ilk günden itibaren, çocuğunuzun İngilizce konuşmasını beklemek, onu gerçekten kendini hazır hissedeceği dönemden önce, İngilizce konuşmaya zorlamak doğru değildir. Bu süreç ile gelişecek bir durumdur. Ayrıca, her çocuğun öğrenme hızı bir diğerinden farklıdır, her çocuk kendi içerisinde gelişecektir. Her geçen gün çocuğunuzun İngilizce konuşmada kendine olan güveninin arttığını gözlemleyeceksiniz. Lütfen bu süreçte çocuğunuzu cesaretlendirin ve İngilizceye ne kadar önem verdiğinizi belirtin. PLAYTIME In the past few weeks, we had learned about numbers, colors and emotions. We had watched videos and play games about these topics. We had provided to stick these in our minds by using flashcards. We had met Puppet. We had learned the heroes of our book. We had drawn pictures, sung songs, danced and cut papers and made masks. We had written numbers by joined the dots, had found different colored materials around us, had played what s missing game within Flashcards. We had said the numbers and colors that we had pulled from our box. We had changed the numbers and we had found false ones and made them correct. We had drawn our favorite pet and painted it. We had learned the speech patterns such as Hello, Goodbye, How are you and applied them. We had learned family members. We had read stories. We had made word repetition. We had supported our topics by worksheets. Songs: Hello Hello, numbers, emotions, ABC (alphabet), five little frogs. Stories: Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White. Activities: Drawing your face and color, coloring and counting the blocks, completing and color Monkey s face, drawing and coloring your favorite pet, following the pats and find families, coloring the rabbit, joining the dots.
MINIGON In this lesson, we had made greeting with our classmates and we introduced ourselves. We had asked the question of What is your name? and answered it. We had learned parts of our body. We had made connections between colors and parts of our body. We had read stories and portrayed. We had asked the questions of How many (fingers) have you got? and Have you got..? and answered them. We had sung songs, played games, had drawen pictures about the topics. We had asked questions and answered them within Flashcards. Songs: Hello song, Goodbye song, Minigon the Dragon, Turn around. Stories: Minigon and Body Parts, Minigon and Colours. Activities: Matching the numbers, completing the body parts by joining the dots, drawing a robot, coloring the character of Minigon. Sentences of the Month : What is your name, I am.., My name is.., Nice to meet you, Who is this, Minigon is tired, Minigon needs to sleep, Where is Minigon, In the bag, What is it, This is.., How are you, Have you got a robot, What can you see in the picture, Let s listen to the Minigon and Body Parts.
03-28 OCTOBER PLAYTIME We will continue learning family members. We will learn patterns such as Come on / who is this? and we will tell our physical properties which we have. (Our hair color, our eyes color...) We will support our topic within songs, games, paintings and several activities. We will read and listen to the stories about these topics. We will repeat the words which are involved in the stories. We will portray the stories. We will make some reviews and watch videos about family members. We will look up the pictures and talk about who they are and where they are. We will sing songs about Monkey puppet and have fun. We will prepare our mini flashcards and play games. We will also support our topics within the activities in our book. Songs: Hello song, goodbye song, tidy up song Stories: My first day, Look out Rocket Activities: Circling around the members of Star s family, tracing the line, coloring by number, following the path, cutting out (about family members, colors, numbers) Sentences of the Month : Sit down, stand up, Who can you see, Can you count, What color is this, Let s play today, I want to play, Follow the path, Let s paint, Who is this, Playschool s fun, This is my.., My mummy s here, Where is.., Where are my eyes, I have got.., What colour is.., Can you help me, Find granny, I am sorry. MINIGON & SPORTS ( 3-28 October ) Our Topic for next month : Minigon & Body Parts Sentences of the Month : How many ( fingers) have you got? I ve ten fingers. Have you got.? I ve got small eyes, I ve got short hair etc. I have got a ball/boat/teddy etc. Let s count, let s read, let s listen. This is my.. I can / I can t find my arms/head etc. Target Vocabulary : Head, arms, hands, legs, ears, nose, mouth, eyes, fingers, knees, toes, shoulders, face, hair, tummy, body. And Also names of the fingers ( Thump, index, middle, ring, pinky ) Grammar : Have you got? I have got I can/ I can t Activities : Understanding the story by making connections between visual ( pictures, flshcards etc.), following the story line, naming the body parts, dramatizing the story, singing songs, chanting rhymes for developing pronunciation and intonation subskill, coloring.
