ACADEMIC COOPERATION AGREEMENT Near East Unh ersity of North Cyprus, represented by Dr. Suat Giinsel, and Khnar Unil"Cr5ity, Baku, Azerbaijan, represented by Prof. Dr. Hamlet isaxanlj, the President, desire to enable cooperation and exchange in the academic areas of mutual interests and to promote the enrichment of their teaching and research programs. Both institutions have, therefore, set fonh the following anicles of agreement: 1. Exchange of Academic Staff and Students 1.1. Each University may receive members of academic staff of the other for teaching, research or such other activities as may be to their mutual benefit. 1.2. Each University will consider students of the other for admission to courses for which they are qualified. 1.2.1. Students applying for admission under this agreement shall be subject to the normal academic and other requirements of the admilling University. 1.2.2. Exchange students at each institution will pay regular (resident) fees/tuition of the host University. 1.2.3. Each University will make good faith effons to locate funds for fee/tuition payments and other expenses (such as accommodation and subsistence cxpenses) of the swdents covered by this agreement. 1.2.4. Thc period of exchange shall be negotiated and mutually agreed between the two Universities. 1.2.5. Host University will provide as.<;islance and advisory services, including assistance in choosing accommodation, for the incoming students. 2. Academic Recognition 2.1. Each institution will consider units and grades issued in the other and recognize the degrecs awarded. J. JoinHkgree/Doubte-degreeffwinning Programs 3.1. The IwO Universities will consider establishment and implementation of joint-degree, double-degree and twinning programs. 3.2. The two Universities will mutually negotiate terms of such programs and will joinlly apply quality control mechanisms to assure successful implementation of them. 3.3. Students admitted to the joint degree programs shall be accepted by both Universities. which shall be. documented by letters of admission in headed paper sealed and signed by cach of them and with jointly issued student [0 cards. 3.4. Upon successful completion of the joint degree programs, students will reccivc diplomas officially authorized with seals and signatures of both Universities. 3.5. Students enrolled in joint degree programs shall pay regular (resident) tuition fees of the host University during their studies althat institution.
4. Resea rch and Information 4. I. The two Universities wi!! cooperate in the promotion of symposia, conferences, the location and collection of research materials and data, publication of research findings as shall be agreed between them from time to time. 5.lmpJcmcntation 5.1. Each parly will appoint a coordinator to be responsible for the administration of this agreement, including the development of specific programs and goals. 5.2. Both Universities shall jointly determine fields of studies 10 be covered by this agreement. 6. Term of Agreement 6.1. This agreement enters into force on the day of signing by both parties and may be amended as appropriate after consultation between the two parties. 6.2. This agreement shall remain in force unless and until such time as either institution formally expresses in writing the intention to terminate it after a period of notice of one year. 6.3. In case of termination, the students already admitted to the above-mentioned programs shall not be affected by termination of this agreement and both sides shal! assure that these students smoothly complete their studies and receive appropriate degrees. PROTOCOL OF COLLABORATION between Azerbaij a n State Oil Academy and Near East University Based on their desire 10 establish an educational, research and cultural relationship the Azerbaijan Slate Oil Academy (Baku, Azerbaijan) hereafter referred \0 as (ASOA), and Ncar East University (Nicosia, TRNC), hereafter referred \0 as (NEU), agree on the articles of this protocol in order 10 improve. promote and encourage mutual cooperation in areas of common interest. 1. Areas of Academ ic Collaboration The academic cooperation will be established in the following areas: electrical and electronic engineering, computer engineering, computer information systems, mechanical engineering, physics and mathematics, economy, business and administration and ecology. 2. Faculty Exchange ASOA and NEU shall promote to exchange faculty members to undertake joint research andlor teaching activities, or 10 cooperate in other projects of mutual interest including Master and Ph.D. students' co-supervision, joint textbook and scientific papers publications, seminars and the organization of conferences. 3. Student Exchange ASOA and NEU shall facilitate the exchange of undergraduate and graduate students, provide opportunities 10 attend seminar courses at the other university during the summer. 4. Excha nge of Ed ucational and Research Materials ASOA and NEU shall encourage the exchange of books, research papers, software packages and equipment for educational, research and training purposes. 5. Financial Agreement During mutual visits, traveling expenses will be covered by the visiting university, whereas boarding, accommodation and other related expenses will be covered by the host university.
6. Validity of ))rotocol This protocol shall be valid for 5 (fi ve) years from the date of signature and will automatically be extended for another 5 (five) years unless either party notifies the other of its intention to terminate it, in the form of writ len notice 6 (six) months prior to expiry. Any change or addition to this Protocol is valid only if it is accepted by both parties.
