WHAT IS IT ABOUT? TITLE: DOES ANYBODY HEAR ME? EVENT TYPE: YOUTH EXCHANGE (ACTION 1.1) THEME: NATURAL DISASTERS LOCATION: DÜZCE / TURKEY DURATION: JUNE 20-28 2014 ORGANIZER: DÜZCE ROTARACT ASSOCIATION PARTICIPANTS: YOUNG PEOPLE FROM GREECE, PORTUGAL, ITALY, SPAIN, ROMANIA, LITHUANIA AND TURKEY MAIN DONOR: NATIONAL AGENCY OF TURKEY (Travel Expenses will be reimbursed by %70 upon delivery of travel invoices, tickets, boarding passes et.c. / Accomodation & Food will be free of charge)
WHAT IS IT ABOUT? Düzce Rotaract Association invites you to an international youth exchange project Does Anybody Hear Me? financed by Youth in Action Programme. Does Anybody Hear Me is a 1.1 cultural exchange which is going to be in Düzce / Turkey between the dates 20-06-2014 and 28-06-2014. 42 young people from different countries, religion, culture, past and background will meet in the half way of our common aspects of humanity such as tolerance, unity and solidarity. Our main concern of the project is directly to aim at raising awereness on the subjects of natural disasters, their reasons and their conclusions. 42 young people from risk countries such as Turkey, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Lithuania and Romania will come together to share their knowledge and work on the effects of natural disasters in Düzce, a small city where 2 destructive earthquakes (6.7 / 7.2 ratio) demolished the half of the city in 1999 three months in a row. Workshops related with the theme is going to be leaded by a trainer and a facilitator giving participants a chance to discover about subjects of dealing with the crisis moment of a disaster, life-saving tips to prevention from physical & mental damages, real stories from survivors, first-aid improtance, subjects to pay attention to prevent natural disasters etc by theirselves and each other with learning by doing fashion. Participants and leaders will organize a tree planting day around danger zones, planting walnut trees which are very powerful prevention from erosion, very beneficial for environment and oxygien rising, very healthy for people who consume their fruits. Cultural nights will assist this interaction by assuring participants a free space to present their cultures while offering each other regional food and drinks, performing cultural dances. WORKING METHODS: Presentations Competitions Interviews Discussing Groups Team Building Activities Touristic Visits Parties! High motivation & full participation and a basic level of spoken ENGLISH is required! Personal skills and talents will be welcomed! GROUPS: Each country group will be formed by 4 participants and 1 group leader, 5 in total except for Greece And Italy(Greece: 5 + 1 Leader / Italy 5+1 Leader ). Majority of the participants should be in ages between 18-25, 1 person for each group might be in 18-30 age balance. (Leaders can be older than 30) Gender Balance (Only for participants): Greece 2 boys 3 girls, Italy 3 boys 2 girls, Lithuania 1 boy 3 girls, Portugal 2 boys 2 girls, Romania 3 boys 1 girl, Spain 2 boys 2 girls.
ABOUT DÜZCE Situated at the north west coast of Turkey, Düzce is a touristic summer city with 200.000 habitants overall including its province called Akçakoca which has 35 kilometers of wide sandy beaches by the Black Sea. 3 hours distance average to both Istanbul and Ankara, Düzce is environned by natural green colours and has a typical Black Sea climate which provides visitors with a fully fresh weather and an ineffable vigor. This place also offers its visitors a deep history as certain historical items, statues and parts of ancient buildings such as columns, walls of destroyed castles and hidden tunnels can still be found during random excavations.
WHERE WILL WE STAY? During the project we will be staying in the facilities of Düzce University. Rooms will be for 4-6 person with private bathroom for each, closets and desks will be avalaible in the rooms. In the building there is a market, dining hall, tv hall, and workshop spaces. 2 days of the project, to reflect about tent life during disasters, we will be staying in tents which will be decorated by our team as a tent camp. So be prepared to stay 2 days in nature!

ADVANCED PLANNING MEETING Advanced Planing Visit will bring together group leaders of each country. This trip is just for group leaders. There will be 7 leaders from 7 different different countries who are going to represent their particular group in this meeting. Between the 6th 8th June, we are going to meet with group leaders in Istanbul to assure a sustainable preperation for the project; handling the subjects such as project schedule, transportation issues, social activities, rules, aims, expectations, financial issues, health measures and other important matters. The organization will reimburse group leaders %100 of all travel expenses (plane tickets, bus tickets, train tickets etc.) upon submitting valid invoices and boarding passes. Each group leader must join this meeting to establish a substansive understanding among other leaders and to grow fundamental basis of further cooperations. TRAVEL INFORMATION ADVANCED PLANNING MEETING (APV) 06-08 June 2014 Your travel has to be scheduled to arrive in SAW Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport or IST Istanbul Atatürk Airport not after than 13:00 on 27 Sep 2013. %100 of travel expenses will be covered upon submitting of valid invoices and boarding passes. Accomodation and food will be covered by the programme. PROJECT 20-28 June All group members must travel together. Arrivals have to be scheduled to arrive in SAW Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport or IST Istanbul Atatürk Airport not after then 13:00 on 11 Oct 2013. %70 of travel expenses will be covered upon submitting of valid invoices and boarding passes. TRAVEL INFORMATION ATATÜRK AIRPORT (european side) IST Istanbul Atatürk Airport The distance between Istanbul Atatürk Airport and Düzce city center is 246 km and 3 and a half hours (As Istanbul is combined by brigdes from European side to Asian side, destination times depend on the bridge traffic). Detailed info for the travel will be brought to the group members as a travel pack document 3 weeks before the action.

CONDITIONS OF REIMBURSEMENT Your travel dates could be +/- 2 days than the event dates. All boarding passes have to be kept and brought. You will need them for reimbursement. Each journey has to be presented by official invoice and ticket. You must have a travel insurance containing travel dates by your own funds and bring it with your travel documentation. Before buying your tickets you must contact with ICL Association for comfirmation. Each country group has limits for round trip travel reimbursement. Check it on the chart below. The invoice of flight ticket must contain your name, the starting and finishing place and the date of the journey and the price of the ticket. Whatever official is your paper, if these data are not on it, you can not get it reimbursed! And use your full name as it is the same as your passport. E-tickets: An e-ticket is NOT an invoice! If necessary, call the airline/train company/etc., explain them the situation and ask them to give you a receipt/invoice. If you buy tickets online, take care that you tick the box indicating hat you want an invoice. They must have STAMP&SIGNATURE of the Air Company or Travel Agency.
