People who speak the same language are able to communicate because they intuitively know the grammar system of that language that is, the rules of making meaning. Students who are native speakers of English already know English grammar. They recognize the sounds of English words, the meanings of those words, and the different ways of putting words together to make meaningful sentences. However, while students may be effective speakers of English, they need guidance to become effective writers. They need to learn how to transfer their knowledge of grammatical concepts from oral language to written language. Effective grammar instruction begins with what students already know about grammar, and it helps them use this knowledge as they write. By connecting their knowledge of oral language to written language, teachers can demystify abstract grammatical terminology so that students can write and read with greater competence and confidence. 41- According to the passage, Grammar is. a- the set of structural rules governing the composition of clauses, phrases, and words in any given natural language b- the structural foundation of our ability to express ourselves. c- the way in which words are put together to form proper sentences d- described as the sound, structure, and meaning system of language 43- It is emphasized in the passage that to write according to the rules of the language effectively. a- is more important than speaking. b- is as important as speaking. c- is vital to continuous life. d- does not matter as it was exaggerated. 44- We learn from the passage that the starting point of effective speaking and writing are. a- just as essential for conveying important everyday information among clients and colleagues. b- presumed to be complex skills. c- closely related to know the rules of the language. d- those between formal written texts and very informal conversation 45- It is suggested in the passage that if usage rules of language to a student is taught by teachers,. a- Students can write and read with greater competence and confidence. b- Students can write and read with greater intensity c- Students can write and read with greater efficiency d- Students can write and read with greater capacity 42- According to the writer of the passage, people speaking a common language. a- intuitively learn the grammar rules. b- is not an easy task. c- migrated away from each other, languages evolved with each dispersed group. d- share a common culture

46. - 50. soruları aşağıdaki parçaya göre cevaplayınız. Grammar= syntax + morphology. Morphology is the study of morphemes and how we understand them. Morphemes are the basic building blocks of words and the smallest units of meaning in language. They are groups of letters which make up a word s root, pre-fix or suffix. When morphemes are combined, they create more nuanced meaning. For example, the word played in English contains play + ed with the second morpheme letting us know the verb is in past tense. Syntax requires us to zoom out a bit in scope and look at how words come together in a sentence to communicate meaning. Syntax rules are silent laws dictating how we assemble words in the correct order so people will understand us. If you want to have good grammar, you need to know your way around the syntax of a language to create a solid sentence. You also need to know your morphology, so the words arranged are in their correct form. Note, some might also argue phonology, the pronunciation rules of a language, and semantics, the study of word relations and meaning, can be added to our grammar equation. 46- According to passage, Morphemes is a- that words are made out of one or more morphemes put together. b- the basic building blocks of words and the smallest units of meaning in language. c- not identical for all languages d- a good strategy to promote spelling and language development in the classroom. d- consists of two sorts of rules: rewriting rules and transformational rules. 48- This passage is concerned with importance of syntax and morphology knowledge to be able a- to speak with other people in a similar situation on our online discussion forum. b- to speak with other people and share you experiences c- to speak with other people outside the boundary of your country! d- to speak with other people effectively and comprehensively. 49- It is suggested in the passage that if you want to have good grammar, you have to know. a- Not only syntax and morphology of a language but also phonology, the pronunciation rules of a language, and semantics, the study of word relations and meaning. b- only syntax rules of language. c- also morphology of a language d- relations and meaning of words 50- In this passage, emphasis is put on the fact that. a- Linguistics is simple issue. b- Linguistics is a deal that requires serious effort. c- Essential of linguistics can be divided into only two parts. d- Linguistics is to read and tor write 47- We understand from the passage that Grammar a- consists of all distinct strings that can be generated in this manner. b- consists of symbols is consistent with the usage-based hypothesis that linguistic knowledge is domain-general. c- essentially consists of two parts; syntax + morphology.
