I have always sought ways in which I could share my research findings with the academic community. My doctoral thesis was published in English and shared with the international community. I presented my research findings in several national and international conferences, took part in many training programs with media professionals and related NGOs, and have published articles in prestigious international journals. Sharing research findings, especially on the democratization of the media and journalism as a public sphere, with the related professional organizations, academics, and policy makers could contribute to their work and could lead to positive changes. My EU funded research on the Communication Policies in the European Union and Turkey not only fostered discussion in academia but also attracted the attention of the relevant institutions. As a result of my research, I was asked to be a member of the UNESCO as well as the European Team under the umbrella of the European Union Information Centre in Turkey. I also worked as an evaluator for the projects of ERASMUS, SOCRATES, etc., in the National Bureau of the EU Education and Youth programs. At the end of the Media and Social Inclusion project, we produced ethical guidelines with media professionals and related NGOs. These guidelines on Page 4 Curriculum vitae of
children, women, LGBTTQ, and culturally different groups are used by media professionals (not as much as I dream, of course, because of the limiting political, economic and cultural dynamics) as well as media academics in their courses My research on domestic violence also attracted attention from the related public body, the Women s Directorate. I was invited to moderate the National Action Plan meetings on the issue of Media and Women in 2007 and 2008 and invited to a special workshop to form a Communication Strategy Policy to combat violence towards women (29th September 2007). Following a book I co authored on Critical Media Literacy, I was invited to join another workshop by the Radio Television Council on Media Literacy. I like engaging outside the university and building dialogues with a wide range of different elements within society: public bodies, media organizations and associations, NGOs for women, LGBT, children, and the disabled. The technology keeps changing. More importantly, I have an ability to acquire new knowledge and skill, as being evidenced with my publications on different research questions and topics. visuals, etc) with colleagues in the project of Media and Social Inclusion, supported by the British Council, BBC and TGC. Another challenge is obtaining a distance teaching certificate from Ankara University Distance Education Centre by attending the e courses of Distance Learning and Teaching during June and July 2012. I successfully completed the programme and learned how to open and organize a cyber class; how to produce course materials with the support of visual devices and how to give the courses in an interactive way by inviting mature students to give feed back in different ways including web chat and discussion forums. In 2013 and 2014, I practiced these again in my master course titled Journalism and Ethics and MEdia and Children Rights. What I like doing very often is attending MOOCs classes and increase my knowledge and expertise. In one year I finished 3 courses successfully..
