Lerner in 1958, participitates in many important physiological functions including neuroendocrine, oncostatic, immune regulatory and antiaging,. Recently, melatonin was reported to be a potent free radical scavenger, being more potent in scavenging hydroxyl and peroxyl radicals. In this report, we reviewed the melatonin as a scavenger and its role in CNS pathologies.
